Cross-post with Hunting forum. I'm looking for any advice from people who have had long handguns like a 10 1/2" SBH, and carried them.

Thank you for any input.

That's one big hog leg....

I have the big N-frame S&W 625 with a 5" Bbl. after a lot of looking at
shoulder rigs that hold the pistol muzzle down/butt forward or in the 'vertical
I found a long eval. by a guy who has mucho experience, and the Lou ALessi
Field Master SHoulder rig looks like a well thought out design. The off shoulder gets a leather strap not just elastic so it balances the load. I don't
know if they make it for a 10 1/2" SBH. So, if you ordered one and ALessi had to make it custom you might be a year waiting for it.

how about a covered/flap belt holster but put the belt over one shoulder
like a bandolier as something to get by with ? I used to carry my model 18
S&W under my Motorcycle jacket on my bike at age 14/15 - I figured what the heck I haven't got a driver's license so with the speeding the cop could score a trifecta

I had a scoped SBH that I carried in a bandoleer (sp?). It basically is a holster that is carried across the chest in a cross draw fashion. I believe it was an Uncle Mikes. Worked great especially when climbing around the brush in search of oinkers

I have a scoped 7.5" Blackhawk in .45 Colt and a 6" M29-2 that I carry in a bandoleer style shoulder holster. It's about the only practical way to carry such large firearms with a reasonable level of comfort.

Kinda like the two below?

The S&W and BFR share the same cheap holster, it's an Uncle Mikes shoulder holster and the only one that I have found to be able to carry a 12" pipe, or 10.5 in the BFR with the longer cylinder.

My 7.5 Ruger is carried in a Hunter holster. You can find a few that will hold long barreled single actions like the blackhawk.
