it's sort of like DU, but they don't ban conservatives.

I'm all burnt out on internet political debate. Total waste of time.

They will.

I was on DU from the first day (right after Dubya's Inauguration) and they promised not to ban anyone. That was fun for about two weeks then they wanted to run a private playground. I haven't visited in years.

Some forums are afraid of controversy and dissent, when all they need to do is ban trolls, flamers & rude people. :cuss: :neener: :fire:

If that's the same Mike Malloy (and I expect it is) who used to have a talk show on WLS-AM in Chicago, I'd rather run a wood plane down my shin or stick pins in my eyes than visit his board.

I read the forum for about ten minutes. The members are convinced Bush was behind the plane attacks and that Bush caused, and then covered up lung disease in the te cleanup effort.

They are not accepting new members.

He got dumped from WLS becaus his audience was miniscule and he kept referring to the people that called his show to disagree or argue a point "right wing pinheads" and "wingnuts".

But mostly he was dumped because he didn't draw an audience that advertisers cared about. Radio runs on money. Draw an audience and you have a show.

He's still one of the liberal folk heroes over at DU. There are several liberal talk show hosts that seem to drift from one market to another, usually "B" level markets. When they get dumped because of ratings it's always part of the "right wing conspiracy to silence dissent and the truth". But when they were hired by that same station they never said a word.

That's why the whole liberal network thing is so funny. If there was an audience, you can be sure that there would be a network for them. Hell, even Rupert Murdoch would do it for them, if he thought they had a chance of making a buck.

But how many people want to listen to hours of how evil the United States is and how greedy the US is for using all the energy, owning guns, driving big cars etc.

If I wanted to be ashamed of myself and my lifestyle, I'd go back to Catholic school and let the nuns yell at me.

They were still accepting new members yesterday, when I signed up. Only 4 have joined after me. Apparently a bunch of raving, right wing neo-conservative gun enthusiasts joined up, starting on 8/21/03, freaking out the raving, left wing neo-communist gun grabbers over there.

I did a search for Mike Malloy's radio show but can't find it broadcast anywhere in my area. I'll listen to Rush instead.

Try again to join, they have only 1080 members and had only 1000 on 8/16/03. This sudden growth spike of opposition is creating chaos & mayhem.

It makes me giggle like a schoolgirl when I see typically liberal-leaning sites refuse entry to conservatives and ban them at every opportunity. Most gun sites that allow political discussions, or even purely conservative political sites never ban liberals. We are simply not afraid of discussing ideas, whether or not we agree with them. Our principles can stand up to debate and criticism. I just find it so funny that the political philosophy that has commandeered the ideals of non-discrimination and validity of everything has tried so hard to make sure their voice is the only one heard.

THR, members you need to go to this site and read some of the posting. G17, chutethemall, JLB are taking on the left wingers and showing them the errors of there ways. some of the members of that board has given up an left. I spent several hours over there laughing my a$$ off when they try matching witts with our members. :)

Darkforum.com - Politics (http://darkforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=55)

I was just invited to the discussion here from some of the guys on GlockTalk. The owner of darkforum is rather libertarian, so you got some free speech there.

I see a bunch of people from GlockTalk going over there and the Liberals are getting stomped pretty good.

Folks, please remember the cardinal rule:

THE HIGH ROAD DOES NOT
ENGAGE IN FLAME WARS
WITH OTHER FORUMS!!!

If you, as an individual, wish to engage in political discussion on other forums (fora?), that's fine and dandy. However, THR as a whole, and certainly our moderators and administrators, do NOT engage in flame wars with other forums: do NOT "spam" other boards with our own comments: and will certainly stop others from doing the same to us. Other forums are free to do the same to our members who misbehave on their "turf".

Please behave like adults and don't bait others!

Preacherman:

I don't care for your implication about us flaming "them". We are trying to debate in good faith over there. They are the one's using foul language and threats. Before you admonish the THR members you might want to check out the other forum. As always disagreement dose not mean disrespect. :)

And I have not invited any of those other forums to come visit THR, or anywhere else. Information, logic & humor are my chosen weapons, not flaming which never wins. So far, they have not deciphered me.;)

I have never said I was a member of the high road on other forums. I behave myself pretty well, and I have never seen one of our members starting a flame war. Good advice though Precherman, debate with logic and never sink to other people's level.
