My brother and his family were visiting with my mom last week. While I was over there, I was examining my dad's gun cabinet, preparatory to bringing it home with me. The only gun left in it was my grandpa's Lefever SxS 20ga.
My 9-year-old niece and 6-year-old nephew were in the room and started asking questions about it.
"Is that a real gun?"
"What is it?"
"How old is it?"
"How does it work?"
etc.
I sat down with them and went through the Eddie Eagle mantra and gun safety rules, and answered their questions as best I could (I don't know much about Lefevers). Their interest was heartwarming. Now they both want BB guns for Christmas.:D
The next time they visit, I'm introducing them to the joys of .22 plinking.
