Would this work???

If I were going to use an oversized bullet for a particular caliber and wanted to make certain that the cartridge neck would not be pinched in the throat(I realize the throat should be slugged and it has to the best of my ability) would this work for a final check? Bell the tip of the case mouth to a few thousandths over the bullet diameter, seat bullet, and then chamber the dummy round to see if the case neck was pushed back in on the bullet by the chamber.

I'd just drop the loaded round into the chamber. If gravity is strong enough to fully chamber it.....I'd think you are good to go.
But, if you need to help it in with a finger....you might be too tight.

If you don't want to make a chamber cast, then that seems to be a good a way as any. :scrutiny:

If all that checks out, take a loose bullet with you to the test firing.
If it will slip back into a fired case out of the rifle, all is well.
Matter of fact, if you already have fired cases out of your rifle, see if the bullets will slip fit in the unsized fired cases.
If so, you are good to go!
If it won't fit, you must acquit!
Nevermind! I got carried away!

Thanks guys! rcmodel, that dawned on me as I was playing with my other experiment. Turns out all is well. I fired a couple of different loads and found no excessive pressure signs. Gonna load up a few and check accuracy and velocity. Thanks again!
