Dented barrel?

While cleaning my 1911 a few days ago, I noticed that the bore seems slightly dented under the barrel lugs. It isn't EXTREMELY noticeable, but I was wondering if this was commonplace with 1911s?

Not in my experience. What brand gun/barrel? If the barrel is a Sarco Roto 4M, the dents would not surprise me much.

Commonplace?
No.
But not unknown, I have seen other internet reports of it. In that make gun.

It is probably where the broach tipped during the rifling process. The rifling was polished after that, which smoothed it out. If it shoots well, then just enjoy it. If you bought it new, then call Kimber...they may do a replacement.
