Are these NOGs? If so, what kind are they?

NVG+NOD=NOG?
I'd say based on the spiffy camo and cool looking G-36 rifles that the fella there is wearing German NODs. :neener: Hope this helps.

Don't know the make and model, but from the silver lenses (silicon actually) it would seem that they are IR.
Perhaps the new microbolometer uncooled jobbies.

Okay. So why are they wearing them in broad daylight?

If they actually are thermal imagers (That small? if so, tres cool!...) they'd still be usefull in daylight. Could see heat differentials and signatures through vegitation and smoke etc.
Only visible light/near IR amplification of NVD's would be useless during the day without thier pinhole covers.
Although I suspect it was more just for the photo-op than anything else.

Check closer guys these guys are part of the new "Digital Battlefield" experiment. The goggles are tied via the network on the helmet and the
weapons to a digital network that supplys these guys with a heads up display of GPS coordinates potential threats updated intel AS WELL as both coventional NVGs/IR/and two way television that supplys REMF geeks with accurate up to the minute views of the action. This is the next generation
of cyberwarriors still about 25 years away, but what the heck if you dont start now somebody else may. Experiments involve most of the front line NATO states. autlander
