So there I was, in a pawn shop checking out a S&W autoloader that was listed on GA for $270. Sitting right next to it was a PPK look-alike in .32 Auto that caught my eye. Asking price was $170.
I decided to check it out; a lot of external wear, some glue/expoxy goobers on the grips, some cosmo on the internals, and a bright and shiny fixed bore.
I talked the guy down to $130, and walked out the door. I didn't even plan on buying anything that day! I wanted to check out the S&W to see if it's something I want in the future.
I went to my next scheduled stop for the day; Wally World. Picked up 150 rounds of UMC in .32 Auto, then headed for the range.
Wow is this a blast to shoot! The first DA pull almost requires two fingers, but the SA is sweet. A bit more recoil than I anticipated, but later found out that's probably due to the anodized aluminum frame. With a single stack magazine, at 8+1 capacity I was pleased with my $130 purchase.
I took it home and detail-stripped (a fairly easy process using a flathead and some needle-nose pliers) and was impressed with the simple function and low parts count.
I cleaned out all the cosmo and applied a light coat of Rem-Oil. Now the action is smooth, all I need is a lighter hammer spring to fix the DA trigger pull of death.
This .32 was my first pocketable pistol. It's awesome to throw it in my front pocket or cargo pocket as I head out the door instead of messing with my gunbelt and full size 1911. I think I'll probably buy another in better cosmetic shape, and perhaps a similar model FEG in 9mm.
Bottom line: It's hard to beat for the $110-$150 price.
Here's a couple pics before the cleanup:
