Belt Question - WWII Buckle to be defaced?

Well hopefully the title got your attention... :)

Here's my issue, I've recently been given a reproduction WWII SS Pistol Belt, the thing even has "Made In India" tagged on the leather, but the leather is actually not that bad. The buckle is a bad reproduction of the actual SS ones, and I'm debating on how I can wear this, even as just a knock-around belt (1.75" thick).

I do not want to wear a Nazi or Nazi-like item. I would much rather replace the buckle, or failing that option, to take said buckle and alter it. How possible would it be to hammer out the markings, take off (by sanding or sand blasting) the "silver-like" coloring, and alter the buckle into something else? Even if it ends up with a stippled appearance all over the buckle, perhaps I can even take a torch to it and leave a scorched mark on there to add some color.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Places with similar buckles that can be put on this?

Here's a link to one like the one in my hands:

I'd love to just throw another belt on it, but it's a duplicate of the WWII German belts, with a service style buckle.

Here, this link shows a bit more detail...

Not as simple as just heading to any website and grabbing a new buckle. I have found some original ones, but this is going to be a daily belt, so... not something I want to spend $$ on an authentic item.

If anyone has seen other buckles, or replacement ones that have no markings, let me know!

As for the Obama sticker... I'll keep that in mind if I go to any rallys in the area http://thehighroad.org/images/smilies/evil.gif

My suggestion: take the buckle to the range, and have yourself or someone else who is a VERY accurate shooter put a bullet hole right through the swastika. :D Something .30-caliber or .45-caliber would be best, but use a .22LR if you have to.

For bonus points, fill a used water bottle or a drink/soup can with some animal blood(try asking at a full-service butcher shop), and tape/glue it behind the buckle before firing. Allow the blood to dry on the buckle for a couple of hours or more, so that the metal gets corroded and pitted.

File or Dremel down any jagged edges as needed, clean off all the blood VERY thoroughly, if used, and make up some stories about ol' Gran-Pap and the War - et, voila! Instant conversation piece!

Find a WWI era German buckle with the crown on it. They look better anyway. You can find original and repos on ebay.

hit it with a grinding wheel and repaint it or put a clinton in '08 sticker on it to cover it up
