Shooting cans in Colorado

This probably sounds like a stupid question, but is there any place in Colorado I can go to shoot some cans? I love going to the range and all, but just once I would like to go someplace out in the middle of no where and shoot things at different distances, and try some rapid fire.
thanks for any and all suggestions!

There sure are plenty of places! Buffalo Creek has a range in the woods, Harris Park has a safe shooting location, and there's always the Pawnee Grasslands.
I hope this helps!
Whereabouts are you in Colorado? I'm currently in Golden (just outside Denver to the west)

July 4th, Pawnee Grasslands. If anyone wants to go, I will be heading up there early in the morning from Longmont. I can take a couple people and I know a number of places to shoot, so if anyone wants to go, let me know. I will be leaving my house about 8 am. I plan on shooting .223, 9mm, some 45. Not sure what else.
If you can get to Longmont by 8 AM and want to spend a few hours at Pawnee, let me know.

I may go - let me look at my ammo stores and whatnot. I'm planning to go shooting on the 5th, too. And I went Monday and Tuesday. Good week so far!! :D

Please make sure you pick up and pack out your "targets" and any other trash.

Zak - if you've been to the Buffalo Creek range recently, you'll see what the efforts of various THR member (myself included) has done to the place. It's... CLEAN.
I'll be bringing trash bags to pack out MORE than I bring in, as usual. Thank you for the reminder. :)

That's great to hear. Pawnee is usually a mess - I've never been to Buffalo Creek.

Zak - then you'll be happy to hear that if the place is a mess, since we're going up early in the day I'll stay later if I have to just to clean the place up. I don't want ANY more areas getting shut down.

Thanks for all the replies! I did a quick search for the places mentioned, but I couldn't anything at all about Harris Park or Buffalo Creek. I did find some USDA info on Pawnee, but from what I could tell, shooting is allowed almost everywhere there, which probably means I am reading it wrong. Is there a specific range/place to shoot there, or is it pick a spot with a hill/cliff so your bullets don't go flying off out of view?
Thanks again for all the info!
btw: I am in SE Denver.
Edit: And yes, I will pick up all the trash around me. It's just good manners to leave a place like you would want to find it.

+1
I was working in the Phoenix area last year and went out to the desert to shoot with a friend. I was sickened by the amount of shot up cans and other trash left behind by other shooters.

We had 4 people from THR go out to Pawnee today and I think we all had fun. Even got to send some 40mm chalk rounds down range compliments of PTK. Amazing how far they actually go. We shot a lot of .22, some .223 and various other calibers. Got to try some fun NFA weapons. The 8" shotgun with a 3" shell looked especially brutal.
We hauled out 4 trahsbags full of trash and we all agreed, it looked much better for the work.
I had great fun all and can't wait to do it again.

It was a great time for us ! Julia hasn't stopped talking about how great it was (and I must admit thats the most fun I had shooting in a while).
The 3inch #4 Buck however, that was an adventure, the birdshot was super fun through it though!
Thanks so much all, we totally have to do this again sometime soon.

Meh. I saw the title of this thread and thought you were asking about silencers...
