Aye. The only thing that Jefferson wrote in his diary on the Fourth was that he bought a pair of gloves for his wife in Philadelphia.

in case any mods are thinking of closing this thread because it isn't gun related, I'd like to point out that if any day is more related to the 2A, it is today.

Independence Day is when we celebrate our freedom, and the 2A was created to ensure that we would continue having that freedom. In some ways, I find it sad that most Americans are blissfully unaware during today's celebrations that the freedom it stands for has been, is currently being, and will continue to be taken from them unless they take a stand and do something about it!

And Happy 4th.... enjoy blowing stuff up in the air.

I'm more fond actually of tomorrow, the 5th. I get up early in the morning to go out and see/smell the smoky air that tells me that the entire nation has just set off enough explosives to take out a small country. I think it's cool as heck, and ordinarily if I wasn't expecting that the winter light display will cost nearly $2,000 in electricity this year with rising energy costs, I'd let my inner pyro out like I usually do and would have a whole show at my place tonight that rivals the city's (except that it's all 1.4G instead of 1.3G because the ATF won't let me legally buy the REALLY fun 1.3G stuff without a license).

No fireworks from .cheese.'s house this year. The neighbors are going to be disappointed.

Happy Independence Day for those of us in the United States of America.

Oh say does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free
And the home of the brave.

I didn't buy any fireworks, but I'm going to improvise.

If anybody in the Southeast hears a huge report that sounds like an atomic bomb going off in the next few minutes..... don't panic, it's not a firework or a bomb. I just had hot-dogs and beans and I'm laying on my back curled upwards waiting with a welding torch.

Man I wish I could take pictures like that. Mine only turned out as decent as it did with me blindly experimenting with the "night" mode settings.

F8 and exposures of 10 to 30 seconds off a tripod. Nothing special.
