Could anyone tell me, is it possible to necksize k hornet cases with a std hornet die? Can you use a lee collet die to necksize k hornet??
Cheers

You can't neck-size a K-Hornet in a standard die because of the body taper of a standard Hornet, and the shoulder location on the K-Hornet.
The shoulder on a K-Hornet is where the neck used to be on a standard Hornet

It would try to make a standard Hornet out of it, even if neck-sized only.

Can't tell you about the Lee collet die.

dirty,

I pulled apart my Lee collet die for regular Hornet and it sure looks like it "head spaces" on the "shoulder" of the Hornet case, ( what little shoulder the Hornet has) the actual portion of the collet that touches the case neck is the same contour as the case neck.

I don't think it will work for the K's pronounced shoulder.

I would think that all 22 Hornets headspace on the rim.

Harve,

I'm talkin' about the way the case fits the die not the rifle chamber.

Harve Curry: The 22K-Hornet was designed to head space on the shoulder by it's designer Lysle Kilbourn to both increase case life and capacity. Since the K-hornet headspaces on the shoulder and not the rim, it prevents case stretching and short case life. The standard 22 Hornet does headspace on the rim. :)

Thanks, didn't mean to distract from the topic.
