i am going to turn my utility trailer into a portable shooting bench, as i shoot out in the woods, and here is no shooting range within a reasonable distance. it will all come apart reasoably easily when i need to use it for a trailer. i am going to use a tarp to sheild me from the sun :fire: when shooting, but i am not sure which type would do a better job of stopping the sun, and being as cool as possible. are the silver ones better, or green, blue, or canvas? thanks in advance.

The silver tarps will work far better than the green or blue ones. The green and blue tarps block a lot of light but they seem to pass all the heat through and block any breeze to boot. I haven't worked with the canvas tarps so I really can't say how they stack up.

The Freak Show Tent is the el-cheapo-silver/grey from Harbor Freight. I love it.

Wait until they're on sale (they -always- go on sale) if you are not in a hurry.

The silver/grey blocks light, and seems to last longer, but it's heavier.

My "spread on the ground to catch brass" tarp is a cheapo blue one.

Silver is best.

Green is okay.

Blue is NOT at all UV resistant, no matter what they try to tell you. Don't waste your money. Blue is great for covering things indoors at night if the roof leaks. Otherwise, not a good investment.

Blue folds up smaller than the others, so it makes for a good "toss in back of van" kinda tarp.
