What's the recoil like? I would imagine it would be absolutely negligible.
Any thoughts/comments?
Wes

I've got the Colt Combat Commander (all steel) 9mm Luger caliber ( :o so marked) from the seventies. It kicks about as much as the .45 ACP model, with a noticeable left hand torque. I was surprised at the violence of the kick as also were others who have fired this model.

Wow, I would've thought that such a large steel frame would handle it very well. Quite a surprise.

Recently purchased an STI Trojan 5" in 9 mm. The recoil is a little bit more than a 22lr but quite a bit less than a .45 (1911). Actually quite a pleasant experience if you are recoil sensitive. The STI Trojan is quite an accurate pistol. Part of the blame (?) for me acquiring the Trojan 9mm goes to Mr. Camp's excellent and well written range reports  :D You should read his report on the 6" Trojan 9mm.

Hello. If interested, the link below might be of use in your question concerning the 1911 in 9mm:

You might have found it on your own, but if not, here's the link to the "Range Report" on the STI.

I built one out of my parts box a few years ago... Caspian frame, Springfield barrel and slide...other internals assorted stuff.
It works great, reasonably accurate and little recoil....
It is currently on load to a friend with nerve problems in his arm that prevent him from shooting .45s etc. He has no problems with the 9mm

My 9mm Colt Combat Commander doesn't recoil as much as my .45 1991A1 Commander, but it does jump a bit.
My 11-year old said the recoil from it was, "Not that bad."

Hmmm, I wonder if the difference isn't in having all five of those inches... This is pretty interesting.
Thanks very much for the info.

P.S. Stephen, you're not on the payroll of these gun companies, are you? :D ;) Seriously though, I love your reports. They are way better than anything on the newsstand.

My Series 80 9mm Combat Commander doesn't recoil much, compared to the 45. The 5" 9mms are about the same as the Commander.

Hello, Thefumegator. No, sir. I'm sure not, but thanks for the nice words. I'm hoping to do a couple of new "range reports" soon.
Best.

My 9mm 1911 Trojan (5") recoils a bit less than my 9mm Beretta 92FS which feels jumpy to me because it has an aluminum frame so it's more top heavy. 9mm 1911's are pussycats. Even shooting .40SW in a 5" 1911 is tame.

I have a frankengun 1911 in 9mm. I would describe the recoil to be the same as CZ 75. Its not in any way feels like a 1911 in .45 ACP. Its more like a snap, not a push like a .45 acp would.

I am wonder if a Trojan is heavier than a standard 39 oz 1911 type?
The Combat Commander is whatever they weigh a couple oz less than a 5" but it kicks more than a Luger or P38 or Glock 19, I can tell you that.

Hello. On their site, they show it at 36 oz in the 5".
Best.
