Walmart not letting me buy brake cleaner

So i just got back for Walmart, i had to get some brake/carbuerator cleaner to blast out the inside of my Mauser's bolt. However i came back empty handed. I supposedly have to be 18 and have identification to buy brake cleaner there. Im sure its because they suspect i would be getting high off the noxious fumes. Which is completely moronic as anyone could get high off the fumes, even if they are over 18. They think brake-cleaner is responsible for getting kids high, so they limit my right to buy it and use it responsibly. Sounds a lot like what anti's want to do with our guns.

Go to a real auto parts store. Walmart has the most idiotic policies conceived. Wait until you are older and have to deal with their pharmacy...

I had the same issue once only it was a gluestick for a school project. No joke, had to be 18.

I still look pretty young for my age so it's fun to buy ammo there and watch people get an attitude and "card" me. I bought 16 boxes or .40 today actually.

It's not just brake cleaning fluid or WalMart. In my home town it also applies to spray paint and on Halloween, eggs.

I once had to produce ID at a country health clinic to get a tuberculin skin test.
Seriously: I couldn't get a skin test to determine if I had TB w/o showing ID. :banghead:

That's so social services will find you if its positive and can take appropriate action to make sure anyone you could've passed the disease to would get treatment.

I once went to Wallyworld to buy a case of flat black spray paint for our silhouette range. Had to show ID to buy the spray paint. I was about 65 at the time. The clerk was a lady about my age, we both got a chuckle over the silly policy.

Welcome to the world of capitalism. Here's the best part: you can tell WalMart just how you feel by never shopping there again and by trying to convince others (as you've done with this post) to do the same.

I tried to shop at a KMart once...once. Never again.

I totally agree that this policy is ludicrous. Do you part by voting with you dollars. Find ways to aquire what you want from whom you want. If the "sacrific" of paying a few cents more for something is not worth it to you and you feel you must shop at the lowest priced provider no matter how offesive they treat you, then stop bitchin'. If on the other hand, you're willing to forgo something you really don't need in your life (the list of what we have but don't need is ENDLESS) so you can avoid places like WalMart, you'll soon discover that you have a great power, the power of purchase...and it's all yours to make. Consider this as well: if you make good decisions in your life, study hard, work hard, etc you will make more money and are therefore less likely to even have to consider shopping at such a place. Wouldn't that be nice?!

I was grouching about it one day when I was stationed in California and a Sheriff's Dept. LT gave me a 20 minute long talk about how many problems the county had with meth and boneheads huffing this crap. It has gotten so bad they have a hazmat contractor who does nothing but handle their meth lab clean ups.

To keep and bear arms is a right.....buying brake fluid has never been one of your "rights".....neither is health care, a home, a car, or an education. Sadly our society has failed to teach the basics.
