Ready to put on Weaver base

I bought a new Weaver base to put on my Marlin Camp Carbine 45. One question I have is, should I do anything to either part before I mount them? Put some kind of protectant between them or anything? This is a first time for me so I thought I asked before I just slapped it on. Thanks.

I wiped down the receiver of my Camp Carbine with some gun oil before installing the scope base. You could use a little grease, which stays in place better. I do recommend using LocTite on the mounting screws. Also, make sure that when you install the base, the screws do not protrude into the receiver and bind the bolt.

I degrease the base & the receiver with alcohol.
Then apply blue LocTite to the bottom of the base and a small drop on each screw.
Once installed, wipe off any LocTite that squeezes out from under the base.
The cured LocTite will prevent any mosture or rust from getting under the base and will also prevent any movement.

Disregard this post. I missed the bolded color of locktite and that was my question. Need more coffee, before I get on the internet!

Yeah, I know. I had edited the above post, but you must have read it before I edited it! ;-)
