Hi there!

Soon I should be picking up my new Witness, so I'd like to know: are there any outdoor ranges in the Knoxville area, esp. tax-paid ones? The few timss I've shot around here have been at Coal Creek Armory's very pleasant indoor range, but a) indoor range time adds up very quickly and b) even the gas to *get* there adds up very quickly.

Ideally (but short of fantasyland), I'd like to find an uncrowded, gratis place to plink and practice; Pennsylvania's State Game Lands have various shooting ranges for which which I optimistically hope there are equivalents in TN.

Any advice? :)

Cheers,

timothy

John Sevier (http://www.twraregion4.org/TWRAHunterED/TWRAJohnSevierRangeEdCenter.htm) on Rifle Range Road in north Knox and tons of TWRA ranges (http://www.tennessee.gov/twra/firingranges.html) (check their website for the one closest to you).

There's the Norris Watershed range up at Norris that you just drop by the PD and pick up a key and pay a trivial fee for (or you can pay $25 for the year and get your own key).

Drop me a PM, I have a short range off my back porch that we shoot pistols on.
