I've heard how accurate the sharps rifle is, but the double set trigger confuses me. I know the rear trigger sets the front trigger making it a hair trigger but then you would'nt even be able to feel the front trigger when your ready to shoot or else it would go off. how does the hair trigger help you shoot better?

It produces a pull of only a few ounces, but not zero.
A Jewel trigger can be set this way for BR type shooting.

Sure does once you are used to it. I'm not used to it yet, a couple of times touched it off prematurely before I was ready. It is the same thing as a high end bench rest shooter having a super light trigger that would be unsafe in a carry gun. A set trigger gets the best of both worlds.

A very light trigger allows you to set the gun off without your trigger pull disturbing your sight picture.
Target shooters regularly set their triggers to just a few ounces, or less! Target rifles like an Anschutz, Remington 40X or Winchester 52 have triggers that let you adjust the trigger pull to be very, very light, as in lower than one ounce if I remember correctly.

It makes a lot easy to shoot because you hardly have to touch the trigger. Therefore, you won't pull the rifle off your intended target as easily. I shot anschutz .22's with trigger pulls around 3 oz. and it is a lot easier to shoot than a hunting rifle.

I have such a Sharps. Its very light when using the stetcher.. But you dont HAVE TO.. its only a way to make it much lighter, if you need so.

Just thought I would toss this in. I have a 50-90 sharps and I use to load .512 lead bullets. I got some thing like minute of wide screen tv at 100 yards loading my own. Then this very old guy at the range made a comment......50-90 was never any good unless you shoot paper patch bullets. Well I made an order and got some and man that old guy was right I make a fat cloverleaf at 100 yards now. I load exclusivly with real black powder. So a sharps IMO is only as good as the ammo!

as far as the trigger goes I can adjust mine safely to 13 ounces any lighter if you jar the rifle the hammer drops.
