Just documented 90,000 on the rebuilt LnL. About 7,000 trouble free rounds since sending it in for the rebuilding the ram. Mostly 9mm for the new Les Baer PII. Wonder if I'll hit 100,000 this summer?

Hey Rob,

That's a lot of ammo around the shell plate. May I ask you why you had to have the ram rebuilt? I bought my L&L AP when they first came out about a dozen years ago, and I still have not replaced anything other than the case retaining spring a few times when it has gotten kinked. I haven't loaded as many rounds as you have on yours, but I also go slowly and try not to force things. Congratulations.

Best wishes,
Dave Wile

One of the set screws at the top of the ram came loose. Wouldn't hold tension for 100 rounds. The shell plate base was then loose and it was irritating. I called Hornady and they said to send it in for free warranty. I paid about $19 shipping. They completely rebuilt the ram, cam and all. The work order and parts is about a full page. Shipped it back on their dime, no charge. Even sent a new large pistol primer set-up. I had stripped it down for shipping and they did the add on for free as well.

Seems like they are competing for the warrany reputation with the Big Blue.

I go slow and don't force things either. I just go slow often.

"Seems like they are competing for the warrany reputation with the Big Blue."

Sounds like they're doing a pretty darn good job of it.

Far as I can tell Hornady, Dillon and RCBS have essentially the same warranty and same level of service. The one (minor) issue I had with my LnL was taken care of immediately. Far as I could determine, the parts were in the mail before I hung up the phone to the Service Rep.

There were a number of new shooters at my club a few weeks ago. They were interested in reloading. One of the long time members was talking about the Dillon 550. He said he assumed I had a 650. When I said I used the LnL he immediately remarked on how good the Dillon warranty was. Before I could say how Hornady had rebuilt my ram one of the new guys asked, "Why is that so important, do they break all the time?"

I'm not involved in reloading brand wars. If I need to discuss brands passionately I'll talk about Macs.

My take on the warranty issue is that it's good to have it there in case something goes flooey like mine did.

I am a L-N-L fan myself.
Though I do not have as many rounds through mine as you do yours (if I had to guess I would say in the 15000 neighborhood as I still load on my Hornady single stage and Pro-7) but I have had no issues with any of my Hornady presses.
