Anybody have a J frame cut for moon clips?

I've been using full moons in my 327, and I like how much faster and simpler reloading can be with them.

So I've been looking at my 642, and wondering if anybody has had their J frame cut for moon clips. If so, how much did it cost and does it work well? I'd kinda like to retain the ability to use loose ammo (the Performance Center guns are cut so you can use either clips or loose ammo).

Or should I just get used to the idea of speedloaders?

(Edit to add: this was my 1,911st post, and I used it for a revolver question. My 1911s are going to be MAD, I tell you...)

Could be worse. You could have wasted it on a GLOCK question.

Technosavant,

I would be interested to hear how this question turns out. I've also wondered about 5-shot J's moonclipped ala my PC guns.

Smee,

But, that's a 9mm, right? I suppose the bore is the same, but like you said, "yes and no" since it can only shoot clipped ammo. Funny. I didn't know such an animal even existed.

www.geminicustoms.com will cut your cylinder for moon clips. I'm probably going to send one of my M65s, and my next SP101 to them for the exact same thing...unless I get time to do it myself.

No personal experience, but have seen them talked about.

Thanks for the pointers, guys.

Now I just have to decide if I want to be without the thing while the cutting is done or if I need to factor in the price of another pocket gun for the meantime.

Evyl Robot,

It will shoot with or with out the moon clips, the only problem with not using the clips is you have to pick out the empties or use a dowel or some other object to poke out the cases. I love my 940 and it was my daily carry for a long time till I saw how much they were going for.

S&W has done a lot of oddies over the years, huh? I bet your 940 is cool. I would like to see one of those sometime. Care to post pics?
