Hard case for permanent storage?

I'm thinking about keeping my AR15 in a Storm case for permanent storage but I heard something about the foam affecting your firearm... is it bad to leave guns in their cases for an extended period of time?

IMO, make sure the foam has never gotten wet, oil up your gun, throw in a desicant pack and it should be OK for years.
