I am currently putting together my wish list of weapons to try to buy before the end of the year. I know that there are a lot of different threads out there, most of which include "buy a glock". I would like to not only have a practical collection, but a well rounded collection. I would like to keep the price of each to about $800, but I am a little flexible. Reliability is a must, IMHO what good is an unreliable weapon?

The weapons I would like are:

a .357 Mag revolver
a 1911
and a 9mm

I already have a SIG PRO 2340 for HD, and love it. More looking for less common, but still great quality weapons.

$800 each should get you about anything you want in at least 9mm and .357.

IMO the model 27, and 28 are a good addition to any collection. There not as common as some other models, and their built like a tank. I love the look and feel of my 28-2 Highway Patrolman. I'd like to find a nice 27-2 in stainless or nickel (not sure which one is available) to go with it.
You should be able to find either one in like new condition for well under $800.
Just my 2 cents.

BTW, three by the end of the year, I'm jealous.

I have in .357 mag.. S&W model 686, 586, and 27.. Whether they are Nickel, Blue or Stainless.. 6 inch or 8 3/8.. They are all shooters..That I intend to pass on after I am gone.
