Sup fella TFLer's I need some advice. I was wondering what the differences are between the 2 Berettas in general terms like accuracy, trigger pull etc. Visually I know they look somewhat different from each other. Also what's the life expectancy with both guns if ur using typical store bought ammo and light reloads ?

I was wondering what the differences are between the 2 Berettas in general terms like accuracy, trigger pull etc.
First off be advised there is an Elite and the Elite II. The Vertec IA is considered part of the Elite series.
1. Accuracy: Theoretically, the 92FS should be more accurate because the barrel is .2" longer. The Elite and Elite, as well as all the Vertecs, have circumsized barrels. On the other hand, the Elite II and the new GSD have target crowned barrels. As far as human accuracy, they are the same.
2. Trigger pull: The 92FS and Elite have the same trigger pull, but the Elite II has a lighter one. This is because of a lighter mainspring, which is light enough to make a world of a difference but heavy enough to ensure primer ignition. Springs can be purchased for $2.24 delivered to your door from Beretta-USA.
3. Life expectancy: Probably the same. The Elite has a heavier slide (you should be aware that the Elites are decock only and have Brigadier slides which means you can change the frontsight--the 92FS, you must have the Tritium insert installed by drilling it out--Tooltech can do this) but I haven't heard about them lasting longer than the standard slide. According to Internet lore (in other words it may be true but I haven't verified it) Beretta made the thick slides to stand up to the .40S&W as the pistol was originally designed in 9mm and they felt there was a need to beef it up. The lighter slide cycles thousandths of a second faster, but most normal people won't notice the difference.

Hi Chris -- both are great guns which can be customized by the God of all things Beretta (and Sig), Ernest Langdon www.langdontactical.com :D
If Skunk drops in he'll tell you the Elite is an accurate and beautiful piece of work -- also very expensive. The 92FS is the classic must have Beretta and more reasonably priced. Both are reliable, accurate and easy to maintain -- typical of the Beretta guns in general. How long they or any gun lasts depends on you and how often you maintain them. I clean mine after every shooting whether they look like they need it or not. I also keep them in their own security box where they won't get scratched or banged up. How abusive are you? ;) As for the ammo: I use Winchester value packs in the white box for the range -- Winchester Silver Tip hollow points and Federal HydroShock hollow points for personal protection. I don't use reloads so I can't help you there. Try the Beretta Forum at www.berettaforum.net as another great source of info if you end of buying one or the other.
Looks like Skunk beat me to it...:what:
