Rossi Stainless .38 same as .357?

The R85 4" stainless appears to be nothing more than the .357 with chambers shortened for .38 Special. I don't intend to shoot extremely hot ammo in it, but would have some comfort in knowing it will digest all of the +P and +P+ I want to fire through it.;)

The old M68 and 88 five shots weren't +P rated, but I've fired some +P in both models with no ill effects. They're strong little guns. I wouldn't feed 'em a steady diet, though, but I don't see a problem with carry and occasionally shooting it.

I'd shy away from anything labeled "+P+".

The literature you get with your Rossi should tell you whether it's +P rated or not.

If it's not, I personally would not use +P in it.

It states on their website and I quote"Rossi revolvers are machined from forged steel and will routinely fire 38 special +p rounds for the life of the gun".

Thanks guys. I know the revolver is +P rated, but there appears to be little or no difference between this revolver and the .357 Magnum version except for the shorter .38 Sp. chambers. Just wondering if this is a cost cutting measure by Rossi, where they are producing a single stainless revolver frame and barrel assembly (4 & 6" six shot stainless) and two different cylinders with .38 Sp. length chambers for those revolvers marked as such.;)
