So far I've checked
Hornady, Speer, Midway, Cabalas, and Graf.
The only one that has .311/3.10 in 124 or 123gr bullets is Graf&Sons and those are Lapua 123gr spitzers. Anyone know of anyone else that might have them. I'm looking for a decent target bullet for my 7.62x39mm CZ257.

the Lapua would be good, I see a Sierra and Speer 303/.311 in 125, (123 for the speer) grain. That would be good.

Don't limit yourself .308 diameter bullets shoot just as well

The 125grn noslers are superb for the little cz as are any other 170grn or lighter .308 diameter bullets

Thanks everyone. I got a 1lb 1680 and a 1 lb RL7. I was going to try both doing a workup on loads. My understanding was the .303/.311 or .310 123 to 125gr bullet was what I needed to get. I have a bunch of .308 150gr Spitzers I bought for the AR10 but didn't use them and didn't think they would work with my CZ-527 . I thought anything over 125 gr bullet would be too heavy for the CZ. Is this a wrong assumption????

Kinda. The 7.62x39 will handle a 150gr bullet just fine. For a hunting bullet, the problem comes not from bullet weight, but bullet design and toughness. Most 150gr bullets are designed to expand and penetrate at higher velocities than the 7.62x39 can produce. This limits your choices to bullets in the 30-30 class or Ballistic Tip type. There are several 30-30 class bullets that will work well in the 7.62x39. However they are all RN or FN. This reduces the BC and they can run out of steam pretty fast. If you are hunting 125 yards or less they are a great choice. For a SP type bullet and a little farther range the Nosler BT may be a good place to start. I'm still searching for a good 150gr hunting bullet for my Ruger.

ar10, I know that there is load data available for the 150 gr. 308 bullets that you have. Load up a few and try them and see if they shoot ok through your CZ. Go to the powder's sites and check for loads. Ammoguide lists RL-7 at 24gr. as a MAX load and 1680 at 23gr MAX. Start at 10 percent under and try. It certainly won't hurt your CZ, just might not group for you. You'll need to use a 308 expander ball for best fit. if you have the same style dies in 308, just use that one.

Yep, got the .308 sizer ball, and I may as well try it. They sure didn't do as well in my AR as I would have liked. That's why I have a box of them left. 168 BTHP worked much betting.
I didn't look up the load data yet but I will tonight.

Does the .308 sizing ball and decapping pin cause any problems with my .308 when I switch it from the AK round back???

Should not be a problem. Just reset the decapping pin depth to drop below the shell holder case head slot slightly. Are you using Lee dies?

No, Hornady. Thanks to a previous "screw-up" by someone who decided to decap my .308's without lubing them first, Hornady sent me two extras along with the pins. Hmmmm. I wonder if they just figured he'd do it again. :uhoh:

If you shoot .311 jacketed in a 7.62x39 should you get a .312 mold for cast lead bullets of just re size them?

Lead cast bullets are very forgiving. Casting .312 works well and I have tried cast bullets both ways, sized and unsized and it made no noticeable difference, IMO. Just cast, lube, load and shoot. It's best if you use wheel weights or something harder, if you cast your own. Just use a little heavier bullet and keep the velocity to around 1700. I use Lee's Alox tumbling lube because it works and is easy to use. Others have their favorites I'm sure. Fun cheap shooting. You might want to buy some cast bullets first just to try before getting into doing it yourself.

That is what im doing in 9mm,38,357 and am going to work my way up with casting after i have gained some experience loading cast. Do cast rifle bullets have a wax ring and do they need a wax ring after tumble lubing?

Im shure .308,.311,and .312 all shoot the same in an SKS but i would resize them if it would help them seal to the bore better and prevent leading.

I found the site from your post and went to it. That's sort of what I've been looking for.
