On Thursday, Representative Mark Souder (R-Ind.) introduced H. Res. 1331, a rule to govern House consideration of a modified version of H.R. 1399--the "District of Columbia Personal Protection Act."

H.R. 1399 was introduced in March of 2007 and has 247 cosponsors. (For more information on H.R. 1399 and on its Senate companion bill, S. 1001 by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas), please go to www.nraila.org/Issues/FactSheets/Read.aspx?id=72&issue=020 This rule (H. Res. 1331) would force House consideration of H.R. 1399 if activated by a discharge petition, which will require 218 congressional signatures. It would provide for speedy consideration of legislation to enforce the Supreme Court's decision in District of Columbia v. Heller by repealing the provisions of the D.C. Code that were at issue in that case, and by preventing the District from enacting new and burdensome restrictions on its residents' Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

Among other things, H. Res. 1331 includes provisions that would repeal D.C.'s ban on many semi-automatic firearms, and repeal the District's firearm registration system, as in H.R. 1399. It would also reduce the District's burdensome restrictions on ammunition, and repeal the District's unique law that allows manufacturers of certain types of guns to "be held strictly liable in tort, without regard to fault or proof of defect," for injuries caused with those guns. D.C. has used this law to bring suits against the firearms industry, but those suits have now been blocked by the "Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act."

Because this message section is for suggesting action ("Activism"), is it fair to assume that you're urging forum members to contact their representatives asking them to support H.R. 1399?

The obvious alternative is for a moderator to close the thread.

I have contacted my Congress critters offices and got their staff's responses

Oregon Senator Gordon Smith R was one of the original supporters
Oregon Senator Ron Wyden D has not signed on and when they looked up the bill they said "Oh, gun control" with gun sounding like a dirty word.

Pretty much the same reaction I got from Representative Wu's staffer. Any of you guys in Oregon please contact Senator Smith to thank him for his support and please inundate Wyden and Wu's staff questioning why they won't support our civil rights.

Well my congress critter wrote it, but I'll send her a nice email anyway :)

My House congress critter is out of his office next week dove hunting according to his secretary, but I'll send him an email too.

Sometimes living in Texas makes this activism thing kinda boring......

But yes, call your reps and let them know how you feel.

Contact your MODERATORS and explain to them that RKBA is a political act, that posting on an internet forum is a political act, that restricting vigorous discussion of RKBA is CENSORSHIP, and that censorship is fascism.

If your post disappeared it is probably because it drifted off of how to make the original idea of the thread work and into politics or commentary that didn't contribute to making the original idea work.

I recieved 3 post cards to be mailed by me from the NRA for my 2 Senators and 1 Congresman from my district in Florida.I mailed them the next day and called each one thru the National switchboard in Washington DC.This number is 1-202 224-3121 just ask the operator to connect you to the Senator or congress person from your state.I've done this in the past and always got a letter back and sometimes a E-Mail.This was all done in support of the 2nd Amendment Enforcement Act.I also ask them to oppose all anti gun Amendments. The NRA Institute for Legislative Action can use our cash support for the fight to save our gun rights!!!!!!!
