Is this for real? Looks like Walther knocked off a S&W knock-off:what:

Also what's with the pepsi cola imitation logo on the grip frame?:D I smell a trademark infringement coming.

how real i dont know....

but that IS a smith frame. the rounded trigger guard....the checkering on the backstrap and frontstrap(the walthers in the p99 have the dots all the way around)....the smith marked floorplates. A photochop i dont know dont look like it, as someone is balsy putting that large of pics up. The back serriations for the slide dont look like something walther would do either.

dont know, but they should hurry up with the gun thats for sure

I would think that due to import laws, the frame would have to be made in the US, so maybe it is a Smith frame.

I'm skeptical as to that picture being a true Walther as of this time though.

I think the handle of the Walther version is much more attractive than the S&W model. Nice exclusive, Extremist.--Leigh

Smith and Walther have been partners since 1999. I half expected this!! When can we expect to actually see these on our dealer's shelves???? I'm sure it has to go through the usual "Hey lookie at the new gun" BS from the gunrags, first!!

Those who have noted that the frame looks very close to the SW99 Compact frame are onto something, I think. The last I heard of the Walther P99 Compact, I was told that the prototypes were more or less hacked together by engineering to show to management/marketing, most likely using an SW99 Compact frame, because, after all, they are made by Carl Walther in Germany, and they are available. Carl Walther simply needed to make their own slide. So, I would expect some changes to be made, especially to the frame, before the Walther P99 Compact is released.

I HOPE SO!

If the P99c is to the p99 what the SW99c is to the SW99, then i will buy one definantly as my backup, but if it looks like THAT crap, there is no way, especially if its DAO......... heck the reason i LOVE the p99 is because its TDA

It would be very easy to tell if it were a German Walther because it would have the 'N' proof mark on the frame, slide, and barrel.

The P99c that I have recently handled in a local shop had a German frame and a Smith upper that was done to Walther specs. I want one for carry use. The one I played with was a traditional DA.
