I was wondering if the back pocket style holsters with the anti-print flap, looks like a wallet from one side, work well as a front pocket holster too? I've been looking at a couple of different makers and from all appearances it seems as if they would really do the job of concealing a small auto and keep it in place at the same time. If you have any experience with these I would appreciate knowing what you think of them. Mike

I pulled a Colt agent out of one on a bum in Frisco who started yelling he was gonna bash my head in and take my money I wouldn't give him! This was in 1992 when I was walking with my wife between Pier 39 and another wharf place. It was dark; just a couple bums and us around . I reached for my wallet and pulled the dehorned Agent out when he was about 6 feet away. I ALWAYS use the sights(even if I couldn't see them!) and TWO HANDS WEAVER so he was pretty intimadated when he ran away! Good thing for him;the trigger was being 'staged' and cylinder was rotating the Glasers(I didn't know anybetter ) into battery! I got the hell out of there and got to my car and left . Told my wife to shove the pier 39 where the sun don't shine; I ain't driving 120 miles to party in Sodom again! Anyway the bum thought I was reaching for my wallet , of course, and I carry my wallet in side pocket where it can't be picked. This was some wallet holster I bought out the back of some gun magazine and I gave it away years back. Nowadays I wouldn't want the Nazi's to see the butt peaking over the top if my jacket hiked up! I've gone to 'Thunder ware' or a belly band. ;)

The pocket holster I bought for my snubby is made like a back pocket holster (may be one for all I know) and it breaks up the outline perfectly.

How does that holster remain in your pocket during the draw? Does it come out as well?

It looks nice and snug, but I can't figure out how it separates fron the pistola during an emergency draw.

I carry a Kahr MK9 (heavy) back pocket using an Uncle Mike's. This works well when wearing snug fitting pants (jeans). With snug fitting pants, front pocket carry does not work for me. With looser fitting pants, front carry is possible, but with my heavy gun, a brisk pace is uncomfortable due to the gun flopping against my thigh. I end up walking around with my hand in my pocket in order to stablize the brick.

Bottom line: Depends on the weight of the gun and the fit of the pants.

I use homemade, Fobus style, pocket holster. Leather with rough side out and a little Kydex spring clip that bites the top edge of the pocket. Holsters work well in front or back pocket, stay in during the draw.

I carry my ID and bucks in a front belt clip belly package and guns usually in hip pockets.

Great for confusing the robber but takes finesse when dealin with leo asking for ID.

I carry a .380 Guardian in a great hip pocket holster I got from R.J. Hedley. As it turns out, I use it as much in my front pocket as my back. It distributes the weight well in my front pocket and doesn't print. Loose pants -- front pocket; tighter pants -- back pocket.

Holster always stays where it belongs. I still prefer IWB carry and that's where it is 90% of the time, but sometimes if I'm going to be doing alot of sitting, movies for instance, pocket carry makes alot of sense. Pistol slides free very easy. Paid $15 for it at a gun show, they make two sizes, small auto and J frame. Here's the rear veiw, of the holster, not of me.

They work perfectly. What happens is the anti-print panel "spreads", thus locking the holster in your back pocket. (Plus, you get a good grip on the butt of the pistol. (That's important when you're dealing with the short butt of a pocket pistol.) I use one for my Seecamp and another for my Guardian. (I bought different colors so I wouldn't grab the wrong one by mistake.) In all the time I've used my Hedley's (got to be 3 or 4 years now), I've never once had the holster come out of my pocket during a draw. Not too expensive, great customer service, great guy to deal with. Plus, he's QUICK! Place an order and you'll receive your holster in just a few days. I always have him cut my anti-print panels 0.25 inch shorter so I can be sure they'll stay hidden. He doesn't mind little changes like that in the least. He even has a place for little changes you'd like on the order form. You can easily pay more for a pocket holster, but you won't find a better one than a "Hedley".

I carry a NAA Guardian 380 daily in a Ron Graham Rear Pocket holster. I've been carrying a pocket gun this way for years. As to holsters, I love Ron Graham's products. Since discovering him several years ago, I now own 27 of his holsters.

I carry a S&W K frame in a pocket holster I made out of a 1/2 gallon milk carton and some duct tape. It ain't elegant...but why should it be if it ain't supposed to be seen anyway.

You can definitely use a back pocket type holster with an anti-print panel in your front pocket -- so long as your pockets are big enough (and square enough). For that reason, we don't call our pocket holsters front and back -- we just have them with or without an anti-print panel.

Nah, I can't take credit for it....got the idea from the web someplace.

I call it my "Slickern's Knot" model...my 2" bobbed hammer DAO m64 works great there.

Does anybody else feel a bit aprehensive about sitting on their gun?

It does seem to me though that a rear pocket would have a few benefits over front pocket carry though. It seems like it would be easier to draw from sitting for one.

DMK -- I agree. I dont like sitting on a gun -- and particularly if it is a polymer framed little gun like a Kel-Tec P-3AT, which I love to carry in my pocket. Its not a safety issue to me (like fearing an accidental discharge)--I just fear what stresses and potential damage I may be doing to the gun.
