Funny that should come up. I have an interview scheduled shortly after my 20 years are up in the Air Force. With a certain agency that's looking for folks with degrees in forensic science and holding security clearances. Maybe THR will finally get their internal ferret, after all. ;)

Wonder how many IT graduate theses and dissertations, funded by NSA/HLS grants, are *classified*? Concerning front-end programs for carnivore, CAPPSII, and myriad others we've never heard of...
Programs that monitor web browsing patterns, purchases & banking activity, phone usage, grocery buying habits, etc. Algorithms whose output is your individual threat index, which, if above a certain level, triggers more intensive surveillance, or may stop you from boarding a commercial airplane.
.gov has made no secret of their intentions in this area.

Wouldn't you if you were in their shoes? I would. Information is power.
What information could they possibly gain from this site except some knowledge on firearms which I am sure their own people are pretty well versed in? I seriously doubt the feds look at THR as part of their regular job duties. They may take a look at gun-related websites when they first open just to see if they are havens for violent overthrow-the-government types. A five-minute perusal of THR would quickly put that idea to rest. Look at it this way. There are literally hundreds of gun-related web forums. Add in the thousands of political forums and the hundreds of hate-group websites and you're talking dozens of agents doing nothing but surfing the Internet all day.

Seriously, I hope our alphabet friends are reading this forum (the last time I checked we are on the same side). Most don't like a lot of the same laws and regulations that we don't like, but it's their job to enforce them. Most do so with a lot of common sense. If I had to guess, I'd probably break it down by age: there may be some THR members here who belong to any of the "alphabet soup" agencies. I would be quite surprised if any of them were under 30 years of age (and probably closer to 40+). I see those folks having a cup of coffee or a drink at the end of the day, and using their THR time for de-compression.
Then I see those agency THR members who are under 30, post infrequently, are frequent lurkers, and are often copying & pasting select commentaries into a Word document on their computers. :scrutiny: These are the hard chargers looking to make their bones.
