Hunting ammo? Target ammo?

What kind of components do you have on hand?

For bolt guns, just about any 180gr bullet on top of 56gr IMR4350, using Remington or Winchester primers.

Don't use this in a Garand (the powder has the wrong pressure curve, but also 180gr bullets have never shot worth a hoot in Garands for me).

I use 55.0 of H4350 and 180 noslers for 2650 fps or so in a 22" remmy 700. Stays at about moa at 100. Minute of any deer I have ever run into.

Three loads to consider, all accurate.

48gr of IMR4064. I saw this in one of Jack O'Connor's articles years ago; he liked it because of low muzzle flash and claimed 2700fps. I'd say the velocity is closer to 2625fps in most rifles. Either way it is accurate with Speer 180gr round nose bullets as well as 180 Sierra spitzers.

56gr of IMR4350 is also good and has greater velocity. For what it's worth, Ken Waters cites 55gr of the same powder as one of the consistently accurate rounds.

I have settled on 165gr for the '06 round. Best accuracy I have gotten is with 57g of H4350 under a Hornady interbond with the red poly tip. VERY accurate.

Thanks all. I've decided on 180 grain Nosler Partitions out of a 24 inch Douglas barrel on a Remington 700BDL. The IMR 4350 recipes sound like the ticket.

I always used Imr 4350 and have many still not shot. Have not shot the 06 in some time. My preferred was a 165 bt Bullet. Years ago. What are you using it for?

I have settled on 165gr for the '06 round.+1

The 165 gives the best balance of flat trajectory and killing power possible in the 30-06.

In 1957, when I was 6 years old and learning to read, I climbed up in the attic and found my father's 180 gr Silver tip 30-06 ammo.

For many years, I could not understand why anyone would use anything else.

55 gr. IMR4350 180 gr. Sierra 2160 with moly, measured 2550 fps with 24" barrel
