I found the spot scope while just messing around & after reading a few reviews (only 3 or 4) they sound like a deal @ only ~ $165. I was thinking about getting the 3MOA model, but was wondering if they were anything more than a regular $30-$50 red dot in a cool aimpoint looking body?

Anyone have any experience with them?

Well I am finally posting. I am a bit new to this site, but live on a few other firearm forums.......Sorry felt the need to preface this.

I and another buddy of mine have a few SPOT red dots between us. I have mine on a 9mm AR carbine and his is on a 45 ACP AR Carbine. I'm pretty happy with mine and yes it is better than a $40-$50 ish red dot. I have another suppressed upper coming for my 9mm AR and will probably be getting another one for it as well. It's not an Aimpoint, but for what I use it for it fits the bill and price tag. If I was heading to war I'd go with an EOTech before either of them.

I have a S.P.O.T. scope mounted on an AR. I like it. It is not an Aimpoint, but heck, it's not priced like one either.

I am going to buy a Vortex just as soon as they start shipping. I want to compare them side by side with the Aimpoint and S.P.O.T. scopes I have now. I hope the hype is all true. :)

If you want the best, go Aimpoint, but for considerably less you can get a pretty nice alternative that works well and will save you money.
