hey anyone know if there is a difference between magnaporting and a compensator on say a 30-06 rifle or if there is no difference in recoil or accuracy?:cuss:

Magnaporting (putting holes in the barrel for a brake) means you can't take it off. Also, if it's not done right you could end up with a trashed barrel, or at the very least end up with a shorter rig. :) By compensator, I'm assuming you mean a muzzle brake. Which is essentially the same thing as the Magnaport, only typically they're removable. That means after you're done making ears bleed at the range, you can take it off for using it in the field without it. That is... if your POI doesn't change. :)
If the job is right, you should see any accuracy degradation from either, and possibly an improvement due to the shooter not being so intimidated by the rifle. As for the recoil, the difference between the two depends on the brake you choose. There are dozens upon dozens of brake designs. Each with varying degrees of recoil reduction and noise increase (or noise redirection to be technical).
I avoid both. I hate the blast and more importantly the noise from brakes. The only thing I shoot with a brake is the 50 BMG and I'd take that one off if I thought I could tolerate it.
