Nice looking gun. These things are tough as nails and accurate too. About the only problem I had with my Mark I was that it is a major pain to field strip. Always got exceptional accuracy, but for some reason worst accuracy was with CCI Green Tag match ammo. Anyway enjoy, I've put so many 500 round bricks through mine, I've lost count. You'll probably get an occasional failure to feed, but I think that will be ammo most times. Seems major companies don't put the same effort into .22 LR as they do with centerfire ammo.

That looks considerably better than most Rugers I've seen.

It is paid for. With all the state fees and taxes I paid just under $400 for it.

10 days left and counting...

Good going! That's a purdy one too ;) Mine's not nearly so purdy, but she is a fantastic shooter! Enjoy :D

I enjoy my Ruger MkII.. Even as my handgun collection grows, I think chasing a can around is still about as fun as it get's.. :D It also seems that the more time I spend chasing the can around, the better my overall handgun skills get. Tough to beat an afternoon of fun that costs you $8 in ammo and zip in targets :D

(edited to add)
BTW, not crazy about the gold trigger, but those grips are a great! Good looking enough to make me consider something similar for my MKII!

I ordered a black Ruger 22/45 trigger for mine, and installed it. IMHO, it looks great compared to the gold trigger. Trigger was about $5 from Brownell's, and easily installed. Just my humble opinion..

Rival, once you get your gun and have been using it for two or three months, give us a shout as to how you feel about field stripping your gun, maybe removing the barrel, and puting it all together.

I am curious to hear your experience, and maybe others would as well.

Well, the problem with me is that I did some research on Ruger MkII, and I know that the new ones are very tight and hard to take apart. Plus I already read all of the material available online about fieldstripping this particular model. So I am ready for the challenge and it is not going to be a problem for me :)

I've got a 512 22/45, and the FIRST time I took it apart, was a bear. I needed something to pry out the rear latch on it, and had a heck of a time getting the barrel off. After that, I can pull the latch with my fingernail, and the barrel is still stiff, but easier to get off.

BTW, does anyone who has one of these shoot CCI Stingers in it? Lately, it seems when I do, rounds will get caught on the top of the chamber (ruining the bullet), and the bolt will jam on them (denting the brass, ruining the round). It quite sucks as Stingers are a wee bit expensive....though they are quite impressive at night! :what:

Although the Mark II (and Mark I) can be a little difficult to field strip at first, they get easier the more you do it. I usually just field strip the barrel and bolt, then use Gun Scrubber on the frame and trigger assembly, then a light coat of oil. About every 5th time out, I'll completely break it down for a good cleaning. I like my Ruger as much as my S&W 41, and shoot it a lot more. It's one of my favorites. As for the Stingers, mine doesn't like them, or Winchester hollow points, lots of ruined bullets prior to chambering. I usually stick to round nose and have no troubles.

That's a really cool looking .22.

Personally though I'd go for the 6.5" barrel and just a standard barrel, no target barrel.

My father's 1988 stainless MKII has this configuration and it's totally awesome dude! :D

What do you find objectionable in a Browning Buckmark? I have two and they are fine guns. I like the Ruger too but I don't have one.

I have a MkII that I have shot 1000's of rounds thru. It is still tight, shoots great, and has never given me a problem. Enjoy.
Shoot well and often!

Yep it's pretty. As far as field striping goes check these two links out.
