I just came from Academy with 3 flats of Remington Shure Shot Heavy Dove Load. They are 1 1/8 oz 1255 fps., #8 or #7 1/2, and are priced at $4.90 per box.
Here is the tricky part. If the checker scans the bar code on the flat it will ring up $59.90. Have him scan the individual box inside, and it will ring up $49.90.
Seems that they have individual boxes on the shelf priced at $4.90, but the case lot has not been changed.
Anyway, no real problem, they happily sold them to me at the lower price. My friend had the same experience with another Academy across town.
I have heard rumors that as dove season aproaches here in Texas (Sept. 1, in most places) there will be some placed on sale for ~ $4.49. I am keeping a sharp eye out, and when that happens I will be springing for about 10 flats. I would buy more but for little annoyances like the mortgage, the lights, water, etc.
