Glock 23 or CZ P-06?

July 19, 2008, 06:09 PM
I'm torn. I know my friend is going to come straight out and say, "get the CZ!!!" But, I don't have a Glock in my massive handgun collection, and I do not have a .40S&W. I only have 9mms, .45 ACPs, and .22s. I really don't like the brick like shape of the Glock, but several people have told me I can shot someone and when I run out of ammo thow it at them. The CZ, well...what can I say, its a CZ (AWESOME as I alreay have 4).

So lets debate. What should I get? Oh, yeah...I can't get it until I get my Apexi Coilovers replaced on my car ($1200ish). So it will be next month before I can get my spiffy new gun.

Give me some advice and help me out here you all. Thanks!

Personally my motto has been: Which ever feels good in your hands. And my G23 feels great in my paws.

July 19, 2008, 06:36 PM
Well, if you are used to the others, I would say get that. Mostly because the Glock grip angle is so different, it will not be natural to you. So in a hurry, IDPA, or self defense shooting, it would point high to you.

Being that said, a 23 is a awsome gun. May I suggest, if you want to try Glocks, to get the 19. That keeps your ammo the same.

The Glock 23 grip feels like a 2x4 to my hand, I prefer the sub compact or full sized 9/40/357 Glocks.

Since you said "P06" instead of "P01" I'm guessing, I'll recommend the Sig P6. They're $250 or so right now...

As far as throwing glocks, they're too light to do any damage.

July 19, 2008, 07:01 PM
Well, you yourself said you prefer CZs. A Glock 23 won't be any different from other Glocks in terms of feel; if you didn't like those, you won't like the 23. You like CZs, you're familiar with them.

July 19, 2008, 07:19 PM

CZ have just brought out the P-01 in .40 caliber and branded it the P-06 so it's not the Sig. Easy mistake to make, the P-06 is real new to market.

Get a Hi-Point .40 for $165, that'll end all your debate!... Then you can think about the P-06 in the months ahead!

PS: A Glock is a plastic 'kids' gun!

GZoh...your nutz dude. Yeah, I'm get'n the CZ P-06. Already ordered it...LOL. I just wanted to get a feel from other shooters and their experience. And they make a CTL for it...SHIBBY! They're the tits!

But I can't wait to get those coil car will slide so much better with them. I'll need a new set of tires the day they're installed too. LOL...Drifting is about as expensive as collecting and shooting firearms! PROPS!

Just kiddin ya 240.. You know that GLOCK's a real good gun... the usual stuff, durable as hell, super-quality, real good shoot, great CS... BUT, after shootin CZs, it IS a real light plastic gun with an ackward grip, and looks like a brick/block (tho that G-23 is their best lookin model, IMHO)! Bought a box of 100 WWW to shoot thru a G-17, stopped after 3 mags, about 50-rnds, better use of ammo in my P-01!!

We have alot of the same CZs... I've told ya before, after shootin my 75B and SP-01 Tactical (tho different guns) I didn't think I find/enjoy a better shoot... Well, the P-01 is it!!! I love the damn thing... Everything, super accurate shoot, fits MY hand PERFECT, beautiful quality and I could hold the damn thing all day!!! You're gonna love that P-06, it's as simple as that.
If you want to get that 'kiddie-plastic stufff' out of your system, get that HI-POINT for $165, you'll thank me later and impress the hell out of all the guys at the range!

Here 240, got a way for you to carry your Glock...

July 20, 2008, 07:17 AM
Both guns are rather blocky, and darn near the same size. I like both, if your gonna ccw, I'd get the G23, to save on weight. The DA trigger reach on the CZs is terrible, and my only gripe with the gun. Cant go wrong in your choice:)

Does the C.Z. P-06 come in a "decocker only" version (I.E. no manual safety)?

July 20, 2008, 08:24 AM
P-01 and P-06 'decocker only'... at least, as of now.

July 20, 2008, 08:44 AM
So they're "decocker only", only. Good (for me)!

July 20, 2008, 12:40 PM
I own both and chose the CZ p-06 as my primary carry. The CZ only weighs 3 ounces more than the glock 23, but is much more accurate, fits my hand much better, and points more quickly and naturally. Both are very reliable. I use the pro-mag ten round mag for the CZ, which fits flush, so I give up 3 rounds, compared to the glock 23. the CZ also has night sights, and I prefer the safety of the CZ DA/SA design.

If you have a 9 and a 45 why do you want a 40. It costs more to shoot and won't do anything one of the other two won't Oh well none of my business. I'd buy the Glock because I like it better just got no need or desire to own a .40.

July 20, 2008, 04:54 PM
Huddog, you're askin 240 a question that's much too logical!... He's got alottt of money and loves CZs... let 'em be... cause he's gonna just LOVE that P-06!!!!

July 20, 2008, 05:00 PM
If Height is NOT an issue, the P06 is very nice. It will ship with the EXTENDED 12 round mag, because CZ cannot seem to ship a WORKABLE short mag (10 round) with their compact 40s. So, they put an extension on, and you have a semi-compact gun with a longer butt. YOU CAN get some Promags which may work that fit flush - I use them in my COmpact 9mm and they work fine, and others have used them in the 40 caliber Compact.

You also have to LIKE a decocker. So the CZ P06 is VERY different than the Glock 23. Glock - point and shoot. CZ long DA pull, then light/short SA.

CZ just needs to get their act together on a MANUAL SAFETY VERSION, so they can beat ALL the competition. I hear they will do JUST that with the P07, coming in the next year - polymer compact, CZ trigger, and with a manual safety - this is the ticket!

Just adding to my collection and I'd like to own a .40S&W for carrying purposes. Right now, I've only been carrying my HK USP Compact .45 ACP, because of the damn heat here (easy to conceal). It's hard to carry my CZ75s, CZ SP-01, Hi Point C-9, Ruger P95PR15, Beretta 92 (all 9mms), or my CZ97BD (.45 APC)...they are a little big, I do have holsters that I do use with them, but they're just big and harder to conceal with less clothing (ie shorts, t-shirts,...and it would look strange wearing long sleeves or a jacket in this weather).

So I was looking for something I didn't have (ie .40S&W) in a compact that I could carry in here in this damn heat. I was debating the G23 or the CZP-06. GZoh is right, I'm a CZ Nut. I've got a bad case of the CZ Fever!!! LOL

I do plan on getting a Glock to add to my collection. After the car work I think a Glock maybe in order which one should I get? SERIOUSLY!!! Thanks! (Shooting and Drifting, my 2 favorite things!!!)

Go for the G-23... IMHP the best lookin' Glock of the bunch!... Nothing to discuss about quality, reliability, etc... Just 'How does it fit in your hand and how does it shoot for you.' and how do you like the grip and looks?
Be interested when you get it, how it compares to your H&K-C?
I just seem to have a hard time warmin' up to the 'polys' after that heavy-feel of a CZ.. but you already know that!

PS: Have you considered that 'Glock Carry' option I showed ya?

July 20, 2008, 08:02 PM must have missed something in my message earlier.
I HAVE ALREADY ORDERED THE CZ P-06. I just won't be picking in up until next month. I am getting new coilovers for my car and will be installing them myself to save $$$ (Apexi coilovers, cost me $1200)...but my car will go sideways nicely. I've got Tein coilovers now and I've done them in...and I was not impressed with them. They couldn't hold up and I was told they were top of the line. Any way, back to guns....

I'm going to get a Glock after I the this CZ P-06. If nothing else, just a new gun to add to the collection. Don't worry, I'm still collecting my CZs though!!!

July 20, 2008, 08:52 PM
nice choice on the p-06. :)

i'm sitting pretty with my XD-9 3". i just wish i could hack the short mag to be double stack or something. down the road i'd like to replace it with a self-built clone of the cz custom shop pro-tek. but before that pro-tek, i need two more 40b pistols. :D

July 20, 2008, 09:40 PM
240... I'm on the same page... just saying if you're gonna eventually get a GLOCK (after the P-06) I think the G-23 in my opinion, is their best lookin gun! That's it.

July 21, 2008, 04:08 AM
GZoh, I misunderstood you. I'm really good at that. Yeah, we need to keep our priorities straight CZ, then Glock. LOL! I can't wait to get that CZP-06, Ahhhhhh!

July 21, 2008, 06:47 AM
I'm tellin ya, you're gonna love that 'little baby!'...

July 21, 2008, 08:55 AM
The CZ's trigger reach is perfect for me. It all depends on the size of your hands. I do have relatively long fingers, but in general its hard to beat the ergos of the CZ line. You made a good choice with the P-06.
