Not sure if this is what you mean, but here goes.
The pistol matches at Camp Perry are NRA Conventional Outdoor Pistol (Bullseye) matches. You can actually shoot at Camp Perry without ever having attended a match before. You would be placed in the Unclassified category with all the Master shooters. Not somewhere you would really want to be in your first match. Classifications are Marksman, Sharpshooter, Expert, Master and High Master. By shooting one registered or approved match, you can get a temporary classification. You do not need to be an NRA member to do that.
The other matches that are held at Perry besides the NRA matches are those conducted by the CMP; the Excellence in Competiton Match or Leg match for getting the Distinguished Pistol Medal and the President's One Hundred match. The CMP does not have a classification system. Everyone shoots against everyone else.
There are also team matches in each of the particular events: .22, Centerfire and .45 and the Service Pistol Team match.
You can check out the rules for the CMP matches at www.odcmp.com.
The NRA's website has the rule books, etc. on-line at http://www.nra.org/. Just click on Programs in their menu and it will direct you.

Pay the entry fee and show up. I'm not sure if you need to be a member of the NRA anymore to shoot during NRA week.
If you don't have a classification already, then you shot as an unclassified master.
