Two of my favorites are a Ruger GP100 4" stainless steel .357 and my CZ75B stainless steel 9mm.

I would get a 9mm first... cheaper ammo.

Ummm....he asked for pistol case, not pistol. As in the thing you place your pistols in for storage and/or transport.

I have one of those padded, zip-up types made by Kolpin, and a gun sock. The padded one is ok, nothing special, but it complies with WI law and protects a bit better than the gun sock. The sock complies as well, but It dose little more than protect the finish from small/light objects.
I also have the molded plastic case my Neos came in, but I never use it since with the red dot mounted, the gun won't fit.

you can't go wrong with skb cases, and hardigg storm cases, pelican cases are hard to beat they are expensive but they will protect your guns and other stuff. alot of the times the standard cases that come with the guns are great for going back and forth to the range and stuff, but i do prefer to have a better than stock case for travel.

Doskocil. Heavy plastic with foam liner and steel rod for hinging. Inexpensive but offer great protection. Natchez, Midway and most other shooting supply houses carry them.

I have hard cases for traveling. Soft cases for going to the local range. I like the ACG Hard cases and the Allen locking soft cases.

I'm a bullseye competitor. I have a five gun Gun Ho competition box with attached scope. That's all I ever use, whether I'm competing or not.

Another one that uses Doskocil cases. I get them for free from the local bait and tackle shop. He orders a bunch of them from time to time because they sell very well and he usually keeps one for me because he knows how much I shoot and I did his website for free.

I currently have more cases than guns, however I am working on rectifying that problem.

I use my RIA case for my RIA 1911 because it's a nice case. Eggshell padded just like the Doskocil cases not just semi-molded to the gun like most of today's cases.

All the stock cases are stacked up in the corner of the closet with the manuals, any stock parts I've replaced with aftermarket parts, and the reciept for the gun.

doskocil cases for pistols are probably the best bang for the buck, their rifle cases are kinda lackluster IMHO

MTM Case-Guard.

They make hard cases similar to Doskocil and Plano. The MTM ones are usually a little larger, except the single pistol cases. If someone told me that only one company made all of the aftermarket single pistol hardcases, I would probably believe them. They are all virtually identical.

Various things. XD and Taurus snub ride in square fabric Roma (http://www.coolcopgear.com/gearbags/pistolcases.htm) cases. The square ones are discrete -- they don't "scream gun".

Makarov in the plastic case my XD Accessory Kit came in. Fits just right.

Model 19 or Ruger Mk II, depending on which I take, in a leather Bagmaster gunrug that I'm not seeing on their website right now.

DoskocilSame here. Bought them all 20 or so years ago and they still work perfectly. No need to replace.

I do have one Winchester marked single pistol case that is made of aluminum and has a combination lock on it. Don't know who made it, but I bought it on the cheap when I got my CPL as a "lockable box." It's taken quite a beating in the bed of my trucks over the years, but is still, like the Doskocils, a great case.

Cabelas "Bulletproof" Pistol case

Made from marine quality polished
aLuminum, with the corn ers cut and a
plate of the same material heavily welded
so the corners dn't be damaged easily.
it has heavy guage stainless steel hasps,
92), and a locking rod that passes through
both hasps with a cage for lock down
14" x 10 x 4" = 2" of foam -holds up to two
handguns of regular size. perhaps one,
ifscoped. $120 Solid brass lock $12 or
two for $20 which is what I did getting two
cases.

I also have the same design for a Carbine
it's 14" x 44" x 4" advertised for an AR 15
or a T/X Encore. It works for my Marline 1894
-or- one time I used it to take 4 handguns including
a T/C Contender to the range. $170

They also make a single rifle case, longer 52"? for
the same $170 but 44" x 10" x 4"

Next one will be an armoredPelican Pistol case. .

ACE CASE make real nice soft cases for storage or transport.Once I "found" them I wound up getting them for most of my guns. They are A1 and priced right.

I had to go look. I've got a Doskocil also. It's supposed to be for two guns, but I've found I can get four of my 22's at least in it with no trouble. I suppose it depends on how big the guns are. It works just fine.

I've also got two Plano single pistol cases for a couple of 6" D/A revolvers I bought used that didn't come with storage cases. For about six bucks they work great. I wouldn't turn them over to the airlines but they'll do to store the gun, or to ride behind the truck seat.

I have a forty fifty year old bullseye case that holds five handguns and folds open with a scope mount.
For range use a Bullseye type case is great, it carries weapons, ammo, scope, and gear. When folded up it looks like a old sewing machine case.

DaggerDog is right about ACE CASE. Good stuff, low prices and made in the USA. I also have a soft case from Eagle Industries. They're American made as well.

I like Storm ""Hardig" cases. Good latch, tough enough for airline use. Check e-bay for used ones. Similar to Pelican, but after busting my knuckles on Pelican for so many years, I can't recommend them.

I got a Safepacker (http://store.thewilderness.com/index.php?cPath=51), which fits neatly into a bag for going to the range, keeps it comfy while it sits in the nightstand drawer, and also serves as a "hidden in plain sight" holster for hiking or backpacking.

I use the padded inserts of my range bag strictly for use at the range and trips to and from. For storage at home or travel (either by air or in my own vehicle) I prefer a dedicated lockable hard case. I use Hardigg Storm model 2050's. I use one case for each of my autos, but I do put both of my snub-nosed wheelguns in one. Similar-sized cases from Pelican or Starlight are all essentially the same thing, but I prefer the latch design on the Hardigg.

I am a huge fan of Pelican cases. They are expensive but worth every penny. Practically bomb-proof, totally watertight, heck, I've even seen a video of them lighting one on fire for awhile and it protected the cell phone inside. They are heavy for their size, but if you do much travelling I think they are outstanding. Storm/Hardigg cases are similar, but I think the Pelicans are slightly more refined (automatic purge valve vs. manual, steel-reinforced padlock holes vs plain plastic, etc).

I really like Pelican cases. I have one as a range box that holds a pistol, muffs, targets, and whatever else. My brother uses them to protect his cameras and GPS units when out in the field. I am going to run mine over later and see if it breaks.

There are a couple of companies making thick aluminum cases with padlock hasps.
Since those case is inside a suitcase, appearance is not that important.

"Mr. Roark, we’re alone here. Why don’t you tell me what you think of me? In any words you wish. No one will hear us."

"But I don’t think of you."

Love that movie. Should be required viewing in school.

Kinda depends on what you're looking for. Simple protection from scratches & dents, or some level of security from theft.
Doskocil ( all the brown rifle cases & the two brown pistol cases ) are good for that.

To make it a little tougher on the thief handling your bags at the airport, or breaking into your car, Pelican or similar are built to take a beating. The green case on the right & the two small black ones are I believe Starlights. The big green one on the left is some unknown ex military thing I picked up for $3 at the Goodwill. Very stout case.

The better cases can be very pricey. But if you're not in a big rush, and can shop around, there are bargains to be had. Besides that $3 Goodwill deal, the Starlights were also 2nd hand buys at a gunshow. The green one was $18 ( I may have weaseled him down to $15, I don't recall for sure ), and the black ones I think were $12.

The big green one is a $300+ military case for equipment transport, hd spec'd and should have an air pressure equalization valve on it. NVG's, computers, ratelo stuff are the general contents.

$3 at Goodwill is why I keep shopping my local resalers, too. Great bargains when you know what you're looking at.

MO requires a locking case for vehicle storage. Glove box/console specifically seem prohibited. Has anyone bought the small clamshell locking case from Cabela's?
