Whats the difference?

Can anyone tell me where there is a dealer that carries SLR rifles? I never see them at gun shops and I don't like the idea of buying them at online auction sites.

Its down to the Saiga or something better. I've seen too many problems with SAR rifles.

The 101 is a single stack gun IIRC. FAC (www.gunsnstuff.net) has the 101, as well as some that have been converted back to hi-caps with a pistol grip stock for sale. Not sure of the quality on these converts, been meaning to ask around about them.

Just checked out an SLR 101 last weekend. Gun shop folks said the only difference between this and the SLR 95 is that the 101 has a pistol grip while the 95 has a sporter stock.

I believe it was about $600 I hear they are basically a super nice AK.

I want 1 but until I have trouble with my SAR 1 I can't warrant the addition.

Over 5,000 rounds and never had a problem. 1 failure to eject but it was bad round not the rifle. Cheap wolf ammo. Can't complain 1 out of 5,000 ain't to bad!

Slr 101 are almost identical to slr 95 except for a few components and features. Slr 95 are no longer in production but they were milled hi-cap ak's that had a thumbhole stock and all bulgarian parts. The 101 were manufactured mostly for the US to get around importation laws. They are all bulgarian low cap and thumbhole as imported. Arsenal inc. in las vegas takes them, mills out the mag well to accept hi caps, installs their US made fire control parts and a k-var polymer stock set. Some low cap 101's are still sold as imported for around $250. Quality of the conversion is second to none due to the fact that arsenal inc. in las vegas is licensed by the Bulgarian company that manufactures the rifles. This gives them access to original blueprints and methods. For the money there is no better milled ak available IMO.

Do the hicap slr 101s accept ammo drums?

Some have reported trouble installing drums. I haven't tried one myself so I can't comment. Out of 15 mags I own, all bulgarian waffle mags fit and all but one steel(don't know where it's from)fit. The one that didn't fit only took a little filing on the rear latch extension to fit like a glove. Dimensionally all mags fit in the mag well opneing on my rifle, nice and snug I might add.
