I picked up a CZ RAMI 9mm BD (decocker and night sights) today and took it to the range. Wow! I put about 250 rounds through it. Stopped to clean it a few times. The gun worked fine with Winchester 115 gr and 124 gr. I ran some TAP 124 gr CQ through the gun and was quite impressed with the accuracy. The only ammo that gave me trouble was 115 gr Blazer aluminum. The next-to-last round would misfeed, no matter howm many rounds I had in the magazine. By the way, all of my mags are 10 rounders. I don't really care about being able to shoot aluminum cased rounds so no big deal. I got some pretty tight groups at 15 and 30 feet. The night sights are easy to pick up visually and the decocker works well. The hammer drops gently to the half-cocked position after the decocker is pressed and released.

Some things I'm not crazy about: The magazines rattle when they are fully loaded. Can't figure out how to quiet them down. Also, the wooden grips that I have block the decocker. I'll probably take some sandpaper to the upper edge of the grip to see if I can trim it down.

I'm really happy with this gun. It seems to fit my leather Glock 26 holsters as well as some old holsters that I have left from a H&K P2000sk. It's accurate and fun to shoot.

Semi stupid question but how well can you pick up the night sights during the day?

Treo,

Actually a very good question. The sights are easy to pick up in daylight. They are the typical grenish-white.

>Wow! When did the decocker version come out?<

I'm not too sure. I ran across mention of the BD model a couple of months ago but don't remember where. I checked with a few local FFLs who told me there's no such model. In fact, I can't find it on the CZ site. I finally called Bud's and they were able to order it for me. I've had a few RAMIs in the past so I was already comfortable with the choice. I never could get comfortable with not having a decocker on my previous RAMIs.

KEV,

The grips that I have were purchased on eBay. The seller had a bunch of them for sale a few weeks ago but right now I don't see them listed. They're OK but a bit on the thick side. I took some sandpaper to them and thinned the area below the decocker. I'm saving up for a set of Hakan grips. In the mean time I may go back to using the stock rubber grips. They're not bad.

I put another 100 rounds through the RAMI today. Still happy! If I ever get my hands on my digital camera I'll post some pictures.

I took my Glocks along to the range (26 and 19) for some side by side comparison. So far I think I shoot the Glocks a bit better but it's just because I'm used to them. A little more time with the RAMI will fix that. I'm not necessarily looking to choose between the Glocks and CZ at this point. Just want to shoot all of them well.

Man! I always said if they made a RAMI BD, it'd be the perfect carry gun. I have a strong preference for decockers, but I went with a RAMI-P stainless b/c there was no decocker option then. I love my RAMI, but I hate safeties in general. I don't like anything coming between me and the trigger if the SHTF.

Do they make a RAMI-P BD, or just the alloy version? What about stainless? This has to be the perfect carry gun if you're a decocker guy like me. I have no beef with my RAMI, but I'd like it even better if it were a decocker model.

Any reason they don't sell it with one 14 round extended grip magazine in addition to one 10 rounder?

BTW, please post pics!! I've been fantasizing about a RAMI BD for a long time! The dream has been realized! LOL

As soon as I get my camera back I'll take some pictures. As of today I have about 600 rounds through the gun. Today I had my first misfire. Pulled the trigger and no bang. I ejected the round and there was a healthy dent in the primer. Reloaded the round and it fired. Hopefully this was a problem with the primer (Winchester white box) and not a lite-strike. On further bummer, the front night sight emits no light. It appears to either be dead or it's not a night sight. Looks more white than green. I never did pay much attention to the night sights when I first got the gun so I'm not sure if it arrived DOA. I really enjoy shooting the RAMI and the decocker has broken in a bit so it's very easy to work one-handed. A real keeper!

Get a hold of Mike Eagleshield at CZ-USA about a new front sight. Glad to see one made it to you, only 80 were brought in the first time. The BD continues the trend of decocker models from CZ-USA, including the PCR, P01, SP01, and CZ-97BD.
Good stuff, post pics, if you can. :)

I personally prefer the "B" models I like having the option of SA or decocked carry.

As for the RAMI .40 I've heard they fixed it. my required nothing more than new magazines and it runs like a champ

I just got my RAMI BD a few days ago and still havent got a chance to try it out. I ordered thru a small dealer here in Denver and he was able to pick one up for me in less than 2 weeks, I couldn't believe it. Most the dealers didn't even know they had such a model. The Rami BD model only has the D on the slide, Not BD. I was going to post a picture but I dont have a url and it gave no option to upload from my computer, but if anyone would like a pic, shoot me a email. Mine came with 2 14 round clips.:neener: donarthur@basicisp.net

The only ammo that gave me trouble was 115 gr Blazer aluminum.
This seems to be a trend with CZs, although this usually takes the form of failure to eject.

The magazines rattle when they are fully loaded.
This is common with double-column magazines. As long as the rounds feed there is no problem. You may find that pushing down on the top round with your thumb as you shake the mag will quiet it down. The round will be under similar pressure when inserted in the gun against the closed slide.

I've had the Rami BD for a while now. I might have one of the first ones in the US. (Got it through Manofsteele)
I too, find it to be an excellent gun. However, my 10 round mags don't rattle (I don't think).
I got grips from Hakken Pek in Norway and they fit perfect and look great. I got the Bacote wood and tried to get a custom holster from HBE to match the wood. That didn't go so well.

I like the decocker since I have the CZ 75 SP-01 tactical.
The first time I shot it, the first round hit the center of the bulls-eye. I should have stopped there and saved the target, but I proceeded to put holes all over the place. My Fault. I've never had a failure of any kind with either of my CZ's.
My only criticism of the Rami, as a carry gun, is that it's too wide. Since I also have a PM-9 that would be my choice.
I also wish the slide release was a bit longer as on the SP-01.Then my thumb would be naturally there. (I've heard the two are interchangeable, but I haven't tried it. I know the Rami slide release is thinner, but not by much.)
