i have a marlin model26 .22lr and one day after about 200 rounds or so through it (that day not total) the firing pin broke in half.

i bought it used and have no clue about if it would be under warrenty or not. i miss shooting it and it has being sitting in the closet for over a year now.

anyone know if its something i can order and replace myself or am i going to need to have it smithed?

Not familiar with the Model 26, but I believe in principle that most .22 firing pins should be replaceable by someone who can use a punch properly. There is probably a pin in the bolt that retains the firing pin.

You may want to post this on rimfirecental.com or someplace like that.

Or if you're willing to take a little more time, contact Marlin and see if you can get the manual for it. Marlin manuals I have seen all have exploded diagrams that will show you how the firing pin is retained. And give you a part number to order.

Call marlin, they might even send you the part for FREE. (Got a recoil buffer that way) you will actually talk to a person there, not an answering service.
