The repair is a new trigger. It broke where the pin goes through it. The problem is that I cannot get the gun back together. If I install the trigger guard with the parts that go with it, I cannot get the hammer ion. If I put the hammer in first, then I can't get the guard and parts in. I need help:eek:

I really can't tell you all you need to know on a web site, but one thing you need is a slave pin. That is a short pin, slightly smaller in diameter than the rear trigger guard pin but only long enough to go through the trigger guard. With that, you assemble the sear and sear spring, then put the guard in place and insert the regular pin, pushing out the slave pin.

As to your question, you install the hammer first, then squeeze the lifter and hand together against the spring so they can be inserted in front of the hammer. (You might find it easier to put the hammer in, but not install the hammer screw until you get the trigger in.) Then put in the trigger pin, the trigger spring, and the trigger guard, with the sear and spring installed as described. Then install the hammer spring, put on the grips and you are done.

Another smith once showed me how he tied the hand and transfer bar together with fine strong sewing thread, it held the parts in position for assembly and then pulling the string end that untied it gets the string out with out a fuss.

Usually I get one of these H&R's together with out much fuss, but when I am ready to start pulling my hair out I go get some thread.

OK so I got the trigger in the mail today. After about 3 hours of frustration I finally got it together. Reading your posts now make a whole lot more sense. Thanks for the help,
