While in Reno on other business, had the opportunity to fond///I meant to say handle a carbine at one of the gunshops ( Silver State if it makes any difference ). So they are real, and they are available.

Does anyone have one and tried it out yet? How's it do? Is bore .311 as reported, and how does it shoot with American .308 ammo? Or have remchester changed the bullets in loaded ammo to the the larger slugs?

I haven't shot/owned one, but looked one over 3 or so years ago at a gun shop.

I have shot a good bit of 7.62x39 though.

You'll just have to try it and find out !!

FWIW, I've found that in SKS and Mini-30's, the .308" bullets usually shoot just fine. If you don't reload, Ga Arms offers a 125gr Nosler Balistic Tip load with AA-1680 for propellant (at least several years ago it's what they used). It shoots very well from .310" bbls.

The Winchester and Remington Soft Point loads use .310-.311" bullets, as well as do the Hornady loads.

However, the Hornady S.P. did quite well for me with a deer I shot with one from an SKS over 27.5gr of AA#1680.

I consider it to be an alternate form of .30/30 for practical purposes.

I like mine so much I just bought five spare mags for it...

I have heard reports of great results with the Winchester soft points that GG mentioned. Mine, luckily, likes the South African brass cased milsurp ammo that I have a pantload of. Haven't spent any serious bench time with it yet.
But it's just about the coolest little centerfire bolt action carbine I have ever messed with. :)

My SAR needs one of these to keep it company.
