Got an EOTech 511 on mine.

Very nice looking weapon. I really like the profile of the barrel, it's just begging to be freefloated, especially since you don't have one of those fake flash suppressors or muzzle brakes welded on in your way.

Not to nitpick, but what is the use of the bipod with a CQB reflex sight? It would seem to me that a telescopic sight might be a better fit for a very heavy barrel like that. I'd probably mount a Trijicon ACOG or a swan sleeve and a 3x scope of some type.

I agree...the only problem is, I am gathering up my funds for a nice scope. In fact, I have two rifles for sale and some knives...If I sell all of the below, then maybe an ACOG scope is in my rifle's future. Not sure about what else to put on it for now...I have it an Eagle Tactical Rifle case.

I'm not even sure what scope I'd put on it...But I know I'd rather not spend $700 on a scope...

I am also thinking about putting a M4 type fixed stock on it...but not sure about best source for one of those...or a source for just a bunch of different types of stocks for ARs

DPMS already makes a freefloat version.

What is the purpose of a freefloated barrel?

Engineer

Freefloating a barrel allows it to resonate freely. In an AR-15, use of a freefloat handguard also eliminates the handguard and sling tension on the barrel. The ultimate goal is to increase accuracy and precision of the rifle.

The free-floated handguards keep the handguard from interfering with the harmonics of the barrel as it heats up, or adding a harmful pressure point to the barrel as the bullet travels down the bore and out the muzzle. High Power match shooters use hidden internal free-float tubes in their match-grade AR-15's to prevent the sling tension from pulling the barrel off-center and it's point of impact.

Now, another question: What is the purpose of a fixed, non-collapsable faux M4 stock? It isn't to improve comfort or accuracy, and it isn't to make the rig easier to maneuver...

Just for looks... I could just forget about it, and buy an actual LEO only rifle with a real M4 stock, short barrel, flash supressor, even select fire...(my dept is cool, not hard to get letterhead or duty weapons)

But overall, just looks...something about the original m16 stock just ercks me...But I do like the fact that I can stash a cleaning kit in it...

DPMS makes some really great rifles. I have the Classic 16 and love it. Accurate and reliable. Your Lo-Pro looks great.

The best part about the Lo-Pro was I bought it for $599! I couldn't believe it when I held it. It doesn't have all the parts of a regular AR, so I think it should be more reliable...and it has a heavy barrel...The whole fit and finish is incredible...

I also need to find a nice "tactical" three point sling for it...

Used, or where can we get that deal?

Huh? Please explain that one...

.458 Socom upper.

Sweet. How easy can you find ammo? Are you stuck loading, or do you have a good source. Also, who made your upper for you?

1) Easy. Cor Bon loads the caliber and so do I. I don't own anything except .22LR that I don't load myself. But, factory Cor-Bon is available.

My Lo Pro ran $600 NIB about 1½ years ago. Have not seen it for that price since, though. A friend who wanted an identical rifle got his ~6-8 months after I got mine for $630 or $640. The 4600 was bought not lang after the American Rifleman review. I never knew about the article and just wanted a beater AR. The bolt on mine is not chromed while my friend's is.

I got mine $599 NIB from a local gun shop called Adventure Outdoors, in Smyrna, GA. (Not far from the Glock factory.)

It has the chromed bolt...

It doesn't have a forward assist, or dust cover over the ejection port, etc...

It doesn't have a forward assist, or dust cover over the ejection port,

Oh. How would that make it more reliable? It would seem to me that the forward assist and dust cover would increase reliablility.

Still a bargain for sure. They want $550 for those Oly plinkers and this is a much cooler gun.

Dunno about "more reliable" but that upper receiver must be the DPMS heavy receiver (which I think it extruded). It's oriented towards the target community and meant to take their heavy barrel of which goes as thick as 1.1" in outer diameter.

Is the flat-top on the Lo-Pro 100% mil-spec? I've heard that some of the flat-top uppers are a little off.
