Does Chuck Heston count?

submin
August 29, 2003, 10:30 AM
Lou Ferrigno, Tom Selleck and Charlton Heston are the only ones I would trust to be true to their word. No others have been as up front about supporting RKBA as these three and their off screen character is outstanding.
Ferrigno deserves a little more respect as he was a success before he went to the "Land of Illusion and Deceit" and is still pushing the envelope.
I’m worried about the “Turned Conservative” nature of Dennis Miller. Is he true or is it an act? Judging from his past comments and the nature of his profession, it’s going to take more that words before I believe anything that comes out of his mouth. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Once bitten, twice . . .

J Miller, regarding your list . . .

Mel Torme was a noted Colt collector . . . is he still alive?

Robert Stack passed away this year.

If you have any questions, take it up with the people at proguncelebrities.

I believe, but I can not confirm it, that O' Donut, Rosie is a stage name of a performer. I'm sure it's not THE Rosie O'Donnel, liberal mouthpiece.

Let's not forget "The King" Elvis Presley -who purportedly gave pistols to many of his one-night stands.

Sinatra must've had lots of guns nearby.

John Popper of Blues Traveller is a vocal gun rights guy.

Penn Gillete of Penn & Teller also talks openly about RTKBA and gun rights.

On the first episode of "The Osbornes", Ozzie Osborne is walking up the stairs with a M1 Garand asking his wife where he should put it. He answers himself by saying that he'll "put it under the bed."

While he's more a musician than an actor, country singer Randy Travis is a pretty serious revolver enthusiast. He has been in several movies, though, and a couple of them were pretty good.

Joe Perry and Steven Tyler from the rock band Aerosmith are handgun shooters, too, though I don't think they represent responsible gun owners quite as well as Mr. Travis.

I don’t think Don Imus belongs on that list. I like listening to him show, but I’ve heard him make a few anti comments. He’s pro assault weapons ban for one thing. Just because he carries it doesn’t mean he feels us peasants should be allowed to carry. Remember, Diane Feinstein has a Kalifornia CCW. I don’t think anyone would ever accuse her of being pro-gun.

Dennis FranzSpeaking of NYPD Blue, that show seems to have a lot of anti-gun stuff (what show doesn't), but I do remember one episode where Andy and Connie were trying to adopt her sisters baby and their grandparents were opposing it. One of their reasons is because they didn't want their grandkid growing up in a home with guns. Well, when Andy was questioned by the judge about it his response was at least sane, something to the effect of "I've shown my gun to my son and let him handle it unloaded, so the curiosity is gone".

I've read Mel Gibson make a couple pro-gun comments, he was a little undecided on some stuff but seemed to be Pro-2nd I thought... Maybe that's changed, I hope not.

While I am sure this is not a unique observation - it just continues to amaze me when an actor is anti-gun, yet they seemingly have no problem using guns in movies to make their millions. Seems so many are anti-gun until it effects their pocket book and then they make a temporary switch until their check clears the bank...

Help me out here, since I truely do not understand. Why does it matter which celebrities support the RKBA? Does it add any real legitamacy(sp?) to our beliefs?

spacemanspiff
September 4, 2003, 05:08 PM
it matters because the money we consumers spend to be 'entertained' winds up in the pockets of these 'celebrities'. those who lend support to orgs like HCI show that they dont believe we should enjoy our freedom. its often discussed how many who support HCI or brady campaign use armed bodyguards or even have CCW's of their own.

with that said, i wonder how many on that 'anti' list support HCI because its what they themselves believe, or because their publicists encouraged them to do so. all they'd have to say is "Your public image will improve greatly if we sign you up as supporter of causes like PETA, greenpeace, HCI, the usual 'feel-good' groups, shall we sign you up for all of them?"

a few weeks back colin quinns talkshow covered celebrities that carry guns. i didnt catch all of it, but one of his guests said 'people who carry guns, they are pusses'.

JG, I wish you wouldn't have posted that list. :( Seriously, almost every celebrity whose talent I've admired, or otherwise liked, seemed to be on that list. Damn.

If they really believed it, they wouldn't use guns in their movies/TV shows. Every time I see, hear, or have heard mentioned Lucy Liu, the avid anti-gunner, I keep thinking about her using all those guns in all those movies, like "Payback." Apparently she doesn't realize the impact she's having by taking on violent roles that children will see, and instead, tries to blame the tool. :banghead:

You can add Howard Stern to that list. I listen to his show every morning on my way to school. I believe it was wednesday of this week that a caller called in and asked Howard what kind of guns he owned. Howard said he owns a SeeCamp, a .38 and a mess of rifles.

He went on to say that he is not one of those "anti-gun sissies", he is instead a "pro-gun sissy". Almost drove off the road laughing.

I honestly wouldnt have believed it if I wouldnt have heard it for myself. I dont know if there is a place online to get a written script of the shows to get the whole conversation.

2nd Amendment
September 5, 2003, 01:19 PM
Nevermind, I guess these sum up Mr. Jones:

"I am a member of the National Rifle Association, but not a political member. I just throw the political mail from the NRA into the trash. Charlton Heston campaigns on behalf of the NRA. He says, "Here I stand". When it comes to the right wing politics of the NRA, I don't get into that. I just believe in my right to have a gun in my house. Ceci [wife Cecilia Hart], on the other hand, is a member of the anti-gun lobby, so we pretty much cancel each other out." — actor James Earl Jones in his autobiography Voices and Silences (James Earl Jones and Penelope Niven), page 363.

"When I came out of the Army, I brought every weapon I was trained to use — my .45, my M1, my carbine. I fully expected back in the repressive 1950s that someday I might be responsible for a cadre of people in an urban riot. I came out and heard Malcolm X warn the people to go out and get their shotguns. Hell, I thought people had their shotguns already. I came out of the Army fully expecting the worst. — actor James Earl Jones in his autobiography Voices and Silences (James Earl Jones and Penelope Niven), page 363.

Kurt Cobain was likely murdered as his credit cards were used after death and there was a lot of circumstantial and crime scene evidence indicating he was dead before shot. He owned several handguns and a Colt SP-1 prior to marriage to Courtney Love, who had them confiscated during a domestic. Yes, he was on heroin due to a chronic abdominal ailment and kicked once the problem was successfully diagnosed and treated. Kurt purchased the Remington M11 before he died because he was in fear of his life. When found, a pharmacology report showed a lethal dose of heroin and a single gunshot wound of #8 shot in the mouth. Though he had a lethal amount of heroin, his sleeves were rolled down, buttoned, and the paraphenalia placed neatly at his side. Kurt was a suicide as much as Vince Foster was.

William S. Burroughs shot his wife, Joan, while drunk in Mexico City (1952?). The incident was a catalyst for his writings and he essentially believed he had been possessed at the point of killing her and through his writings, he effectively "exorcised" the entity. He never forgave himself for his carelessness and agonized over his actions all his life. Burroughs was an avid pistol shooter and while not a poster case for RKBA, was a libertarian.

I think he killed himself, on a bbc movie about him it shows a guy standing on one leg that took more than Kurt did. Kurt didn't buy the gun he had a friend buy it for him. Back to rkba, Kurt talked about guns in his songs as much as Ted Nugent does.

I remember reading an article about Michael Madsen {Now appearing in "Kill Bill"} in which the author said that before leaving Madsen's house with him that Madsen grabbed a .45 and tucked it in his waistband. So we know that he carries {at least}
And for you other Ladies out there, same article talked about how he likes to shoot pool naked. Get a visual on that

Let's see:

A friend of mine reported seeing Don Johnson at Gunsite in the 1980's.

James Earl Jones frequents several gun shops around his home.

Michael Madsen stuffed a .45 into his waistband? Isn't he a convicted felon for assault or something like that?

spacemanspiff beat me too it. They are people with money and influence. The most dangerous kind of stupid people are ones with money and influence and some of our best allies are people with with money and influence.

I think you may be confusing Michael Madsen with Tom Sizemore. They bear a resemblence to one another. But Sizemore has a history of domestic violence and Madsen doesn't, to my knowledge.

You may be right. I DO get those two mixed up all the time.

Isn't Sizemore out on bail RIGHT NOW for an assault charge? I think that I remember seeing something like that on one of the entertainment shows...

That list is a complete farce. Any moron can go to that web site, and put anyone they want to as being progun on it. To prove my point I just added Diane Feinstein.

Well if owning and carrying a gun makes you pro gun, Diane Feinstein is pro gun. But she isn't a celeb.

I haven't read the whole thread, but Clint Eastwood is a RINO who only support a limited RKBA, kinda like Arnold, perhaps slightly better than Arnold in those guns he'd permit us to have.

Joe Montenea (sp?)

Joe Mantegna ?

He's a big self-admitted former flaming liberal and a very good friend Dennis Franz since their Chicago days. I'd bet Franz converted him.

Clint Eastwood is a registered Libertarian. What the Heck is a RHINO? You/I have'nt met too many anti-2A LP's; where'd you get your info?

I know that this sounds idealistic... but it still amazes my naive mind that an actor can make millions acting in a movie showing them continually using a gun to defend themselves and others, protecting the world from harm... then get on the anti-gun bandwagon.

If you are anti-gun, then fine be anti-gun... but don't be anti-gun, make millions pretending to be pro-gun and then get back on the anti-gun circuit.

But then, I'm sure I'm only stating obvious opinion...

In one interview years ago, Clint Eastwood claimed to own a .44 magnum in real life, FWIW.

There is a website www.rooseveltbrowninghunt.com where Tom Selleck's picture was posted with a nice elk, which he took with a 1886 Winchester.:)

We all know Tom Selleck's stance since he was the one Rosie O'Doughnut ambushed on her TV show. :cuss:

And as fate would have it, Tom is still a star and a really cool dude, while Rosie's show flushed itself and her former employer, K-Mart, is near bankruptcy. :neener:

He ran as a Republican for mayor of Carmel, Kalifornia. He made a few statements in some of those entertainment magazines they put in Sunday papers to the effect that he didn't beleive the 2nd gave unrestricted RKBA. Not exactly a hard source, but unless he's changed his tune, he sounds like any other RINO, such as Arnold, Giuliani or Pataki.

I'd say adopting joing LP party is a change fer the better. A true lp cannot be anti. But who knows with actors huh?

No one mentioned Dean Koontz; he's very pro-gun?:)

It is my understanding that both Colin Farrell and Samuel Jackson are now pro-gun as well.
I had a friend who was at Kimber's sales office in Montana last week and apparently Sam and Colin were happy as hell because Kimber gave them the gift of the TLE's that they used in the SWAT movie.

Came across this poster on the web... Does this qualify Jennifer as pro-gun?
