I recently purchased a FNP-45. I looked a long time to get a second 45 auto to go with my 1911a1. I wanted a double action and a high capacity. My search came down to the FNP-45 qand the Springfield XD. Both felt great in my hand and I knew the Springfield reputation. The FN was an unknown except for the general FN reputation.

Anyway to sum up I finally settled on the new FN. What was the final determining factor? There were actually two. All other considerations were absolutely tied but the FN was American made and it was hammer fired. Just my own prejudices and not necessarily a factor for others.

Now shooting it went great. It is a super handling handgun and feeds everything well from cast to FMJ and various hollow points. It liked the Speer Gold Dots best and second was the Winchester White Box hard ball stuff. That gives me a defensive round and a practice round that the FN shoots well.

Anyone else tried this new handgun?

Ahhh... Super gun, super .45!!! Spent a day months ago shootin several FNH guns... Had NEVER owned 'plastic' prior to that day... The FNP-9 and FNP-45 were impressive as all hell (100+rnds in each)... fell in love with both but bought the FNP-9 (cost of ammo), and have loved it since (1200+rnds = FLAWLESS!!)

Sorry I didn't get the .45, but like rella, it's hot on my list (still don't own a .45).
CDNN is makin it real hard not to jump... sellin it at $507!!! IMHO, at that price, it's the best .45 buy out there... period!!

Good luck Rifleman, you're gonna love that gun for many years!!

I've had mine for 6 months now. Coming up on 1000rds. Not a single hitch.

I got a chance to shoot the version they had kitted up for the Joint Combat Pistol program, which I think differs from the current production model primarily in being threaded for a suppressor and having high rise sights for use with a suppressor as well. I liked it, pretty nice handling for a polymer .45 cal, compared well to the Glock 21 and USP45.

I suggest obtaining a loading tool (e.g., the HKS magazine speedloader) to help with those last few rounds, then leave the mag(s) loaded for several days.

J32A2... My 'rule-of-thumb' regarding the mags has been to use a 'Mag Speed-Loader' for the first month or so til the springs loosen-up alittle, and then leave a couple mags full of rounds overnight.
Have over 1000-rnds in my FNP and can now pretty much load' em full by hand (but I'm still lazy and go for the loader).
