Man, it seems like almost every post there some @#$* who's got to show his/her (not being sexist here) ass and be the anal retentive individual who is thinks they are the king of the freak'n message board.

Stop being a hater and fous those energies on helping folks out. Isn't that what we're here for? To share and gain information related to firearms? That's what I thought, am I wrong???

I've requested CANCELATION of my membership here twice now. Please CANCEL it as soon as possible. Thank you.

Some people can't feel that they have any worth unless they're taking your's away. The internet is a safe anonymous place to do that. I find the best revenge on people like that is to let them be themselves, It's a pretty miserable existance

OT thread, with a strong pot-v-kettle element to it, but...

Wisdom such as this is priceless!

I have never felt like that was a real problem here. Yes there are some very opinionated here, some I agree with and some I don't, that's why there called opinions. We would like for you to stick around, but as far as cancelling you membership, wouldn't ceasing to visit the site essentially accomplish that?

A perfect example is the masturbatory provincialism demonstrated by posters that won't look or think past the ends of their own noses or outside of the perfect ten square feet of space they happen to be existing on.

I tried to kill one but my thread-fu was not strong enough.

Was there a memo I missed??

240SX:

In all seriousness I'm sorry to see this post. No internet forum is perfect, but this is the best I have located. Hope you change you mind, and can come to ignore the imperfections. If not, there is no "cancel" option. One "cancels" by not returning. Hope it doesn't get to that for you.

Best wishes,

First of all, it'd be super-awesome if you gave us even the slightest hint as far as what in the world you're referring to. It might help us respond, though I doubt whatever you're complaining about is a big enough deal to anyone besides yourself to bother with.

And secondly - if you 've really asked for your account to be canceled twice, why do you bother coming back? Just stop posting and reading the forum and your problem (and ours) will solve itself! Simple, huh?:banghead:

Wow, you think THR is bad? Go to arfcom.

I kinda like it here. It seems, for the most part, folks are pretty laid back and easygoing.

Frankly, the first thing that I did when I saw this was look up the posts by 240SX. Often, what one person calls rude is simply a matter of perception.

I read the Sig thread. I may be willing to accept that it is impossible to guage the manner by which a comment is made in writing over the internet. Many non-verbal or inflection components are missing in this format.

However, I have routinely asked questions on already established threads. I don't see anything wrong with that. Certainly not something to get bent out of shape over.

But that may not be the spirit by which the "start a new thread" comment was being made.

Your parameters started changing. It was possible to muddy up the existing thread. It may well have been constructive criticism to mention starting your own thread as be more effective and less confusing.

People here are willing to help. But if it is suggested that another thread get started, it may be a good idea-- and one meant with no malice.

One may consider taking offense to that as being thin-skinned.

It may well have been helpful advice from a community that would be glad to help you and was offering you the opportunity to receive undivided attention on your own thread and let the OP of that thread recieve the same on his.

+1. Is the new trend to bash others who feel differently than we do?

Conflict, as such, is a fertile ground for critical thinking. I agree that personal attacks have no place in a constructive argument, but the group always will, and is, self-police(ing). Those who fall outside of the given-group norms of acceptable behavior will be either opt out (see OP) or be asked to do so.

We cannot - and should not - all think alike. We must challenge, be challenged, and reply accordingly.

This is The High Road and people are expected to act accordingly.

I, for one, have learned a tremendous amount from the members of this board - folks who have shared wisdom by their good grace.

I think it's time we stop bashing each other and respect the principles upon which this community if formed.

Just my $.02.

Take care,
DFW1911

To the OP:

If you truly want to "cancel" your membership, here's what you do:

- Click on the "User CP" link in the links bar (this is the leftmost link)
- Click on the "Edit Email & Password" link on the left side of the screen
- Type your current password in the box that asks for it
- Bang on the keyboard randomly to enter random characters in the "New Password" box.
- Highlight the "New Password" box and copy the text
- Paste the text into the "Confirm new password" box
- Click the "Save Changes" button
- Log Out

Congratulations, you are now completely unable to log into THR; your account is effectively canceled.

Why are there so may picky, anal retentive people here?

Without bothering to read a single response ( hey i want to confirm to the type ) I will ask if we annoy you just whey are you here ?. Oh wait , let me ask just why do we have so many whiners on this board ? . Look hand this is a responsible firearms board . we have folks who know things about firearms you neither want to know , nor have the background to know if they would choose to teach you . If you want to call a mag a clip well someone here will correct you on that . If you want to post your new " blaster 2000 auto " is the best well someone here will likely correct you that in fact you have a " blaster 2000 SEMI auto , and in fact its old news and in the posters opinion a cheap knockoff of an original concept that did not work well to start with . Welcome to the intrenet , here we see some folks who know ( few ) and folks who have an opinion ( many ) .

However to get back to YOUR question ... We are " anal , picky , and other bad words " because in the world of guns words have meaning ( unlike the world of politics ) , If your going to own a gun part of your responsibility is to learn the nomenclature , because after all even for your usage calling a part that is not working right a " thingie " is not helpfull or descriptive . You think its too much then sell the gun you own , If you want to keep it then settle down here and learn hand .

I took the liberty of looking at some of the OP's postings. As far as I can tell he's being extremely sensitive to criticism. He lashes out violently to disagreement. For example, he cited the Mini-30 in response to a request for US made AK's. This of course drew question marks, since the Mini is not an AK. He responded:

Dude asked about a an AK-47 that made in the US. An AK-47 is a RIFLE, the Mini 30 was the only US MADE RIFLE I could think of that would come close to an AK-47.

They are a Russian design, hence the name?!?!?! Just shorten alittle for those who can't pronounce big works in a different language.

Now of course there ARE US made receivers and US assembled AK clones. Our member here did not know this. But he just dug his hole deeper by trying to insult the others.

Folks, when you post here or anywhere you may be challenged, argued with or corrected.

Maybe everyone seems picky because we have to read your posts three times before they even start to make sense. When the only way we can communicate is with words it helps if they are coherent and spelled correctly. (I didn’t read all your posts so this could just be a one time thing but usually there is a trend.)

Thenlund,

Amongst all the posts about anal retentive elitists who are secret Sarah Brady supporters, when they are not working as Mall Ninjas or HSLD operators that killed a bunch of people in the line of duty and will kill you if you trespass on their property in Texas, but only if you are against open carry..........., I find yours pretty amusing. Especially when people accuse you of Sh*****g up threads that are already stinking to high heaven.
