I'd hafta say grab it.

If its been shot, its a shooter. If not its trading fodder for another that you would not hesitiate to shoot. Some collectors might up the value if that's a particular hole in their collection and trade ya a 4 5/8" and something to boot (maybe)

Good price tho' either way.

45 colt and the Colt go together like peanut butter and jelly.

YMMV

Adios

Jerryd:

More information would be useful, especially a serial number. If this is a "Second Issue" Buntline Special (serial numbered between 36849SA through 36911SA) Colt only made 65 revolvers in nickel finish. On the other hand 3000 Ned Buntline Commemoratives were produced in 1979. That's a lot more then 65, but still not a lot of guns. I would think long and hard before I used it as a shooter.

I would do some research. The price doesn't sound right for a model that wasn't produced in numbers and you say it's NIB.

Hey You heard of Uberti? This price is iffy. I wonder if it is a Italian reproduction? There are unscrupulous dealers and uninformed private sellers. Something does not add up.

I'd probably steer clear of this one; besides, a 12" barrel is about as much a "nonshooter" to me as you can get. But that's MY opinion.

If you can get to a really large gun show, you might find you a pretty nice shooter for that kind of money. or a little more. Prices on Colt SAAs are all over the place, though. I was at a smaller gun show just yesterday, and I saw a dealer with a nickle 3rd Gen gun (NIB) for $2,500. Now that's way high! Problem is, it was probably the only Colt SAA at the show. You just about have to get to a show where there are hundreds of them, so that they are not such a unique item.
