Chinese Aimpoint & Eotech Imposters difficult to identify?

I've been hearing that the copies are so good, it takes a fairly knowledgeable person to tell them apart. And they're even supposedly showing up in stores and being sold as real. Getting as hard to spot as a good fake Rolex?

I've wondered about these myself.

Its just not those.
There are fakes of numerous optics out there now.
There's a chicom Leupold Mark 4, Trijicon ACOG, reports of chicom Swarvoski, etc.
Go to the manufactures websites to see how to spot them. It really isn't as hard if you know what to look for.
I recently bought a Leupold Mark 4 on AR15.com that I had the seller take numerous specific pictures of and also provide me the serial number to verify with Leupold. I now have a VERY nice REAL Mark 4.
And before I learned all this, I was the not-so-proud owner of a chi-com Comp M2 Aimpoint fake.
I learned my lesson.

I did not know that so many were being faked.
Seems like the question is: Do they work? :)

I am the owner of a great Aimpoint clone. It works well, holds zero, and cost me $50.00
It stays on the range gun though. The genuine article sits atop my SHTF rifle.

Not in all the ways that you'd pay the money for a genuine one.
For instance... Does a Chi-com Aimpoint come on? Probably. Does it have a little red dot? Probably.
But...
Is it waterproof for several meters depending on the model? Not a chance.
Is it's battry life measured in YEARS rather than hours? Not a chance.
This is a good link if you REALLY want to see what a Chi-com Aimpoint really is:

Yeah, but you said "Clone" not "Fake." There are a lot of clones of aimpoints, etc. But a FAKE has AIMPOINT written on it. It is trying to be passed off as an aimpoint. Same with the fake Leupold Mark 4's.
I wouldn't be disappointed in buying an aimpoint clone. I'd really be upset if I paid aimpoint prices for a aimpoint FAKE.
Wait a second.... that's not right.
I WAS really upset to pay aimpoint prices for an aimpoint FAKE.
Always remember.... If the deal seems too good to be true, it usually is. It practically always is when shopping for optics.
I thought I was getting a screaming deal on a used Comp M2 for $200....
