The FAD(Fusil Automático Doble), AKA the 'Dual Automatic Rifle' is 5.56mm Bullpup Assault Rifle under development in Peru. It is also to mount an underbarrel 40mm pump action grenade launcher. The FAD is manufactured by SIMA PERU.

Interesting piece they are developing though in my opinion it's one of the least aesthetically pleasing bullpups around. Reading about it on Wikipedia did lead me to the SAR-21 which seems to be the same type of project (indigenously produced rifle, Singapore) which is much more attractive.

The most interesting thing about this is the breech action. Look at how close the magazine is to the butt; the action is relatively short, which is something a lot of bullpup designers have failed at.

I believe that the FAD also ejects downwards.

I too am intrigued by the short action; the only bullpup with the magazine that close to the butt that I know of (besides the mythical TKB-022) is the Magpul PDR.

Sure, with this furniture it's ugly, but not because of the basic configuration. It's just unfinished.

And as for the circular grip, I'm not opposed to that either. A PS90 is far from uncomfortable to hold.

The problem with all these designers is that they forget that at some point, these type of things get passed on to the users.

I don't know that the action is really that "short", I'd guess it's got an overhung bolt-carrier assembly that surrounds and covers the magazine and breech like an UZI, but is still gas-op with a rotary bolt like an AR or AK.

There's an old Soviet bullpup prototype that had an action/ejection port that was also very close the end of the buttstock as well. I can't find an authoritative pic of it right now, but it's the one that looks like someone turned a red Bakelite 1930's radio into a bullpup assult rifle.
