Any news on Springfield's supposed .45ACP version of the XD? I imagine it'll be on a slightly larger frame than the 9mm/.40/.357 model, similar to the Glock 21 vs Glock 17.

What I think would be really cool if they'd base the pistol around a very narrow, 10-round, double stack magazine. If the weapon was designed for a 10 round mag, it'd be narrower than a mag that's designed to hold, say, 12 or 14 rounds in the same grip length, allowing for a grip that's barely wider than a single stack. Just like the Wilzon KZ-45, basically.

A 4" standard model and a 5" longslide model would be really cool.

So, any news on this yet? Supposed release date?

If anybody knows, that group would. Also, since they just intro'd a compact they might wait awhile before introducing another new pistol. My guess, late this year or for next year's SHot Show.

I mailed Springfield sometime last fall to ask about an XD-45. They mailed me back their current catalog which had a yellow Post-It note stuck to the XD page that said "45acp to be offered after the 1st of the year."

Apart from that, I've not heard any other word about it. I posted about this on the HS2000Talk board (http://www.hs2000talk.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=001648#000010) when I originally got the catalog back.

I'd take a serious look at one in 45acp.
Maybe they will make a 10mm.

DeltaElite, we've been talking with Springfield about .45acp and 10mm and 9x23 offerings for a few months now at the HS2000talk forum. The response from Springfield has gone back and forth between "still under R&D" and "wait and see".
