My last thread here was about a new HK but after shooting one I was not that impressed but I did shoot another 1911 and brought back memories of the first handgun I bought I had a Springfield 1911 GI and sold it for a glock 21SF which is my carry now. I had one or two mis-feeds with my Springfield and gave up on it, plus did not give myself a chance to iron out any wrinkles, and that was after I put CT laser grips, wilson adjustable trigger and hammer I liked the looks and was not thinking about being practical , then very young and very new to handguns, but I have fell back in love with the 1911 design and really need to have one at least one, my line of thinking is this, If I were to buy one Springfield 1911( fullsize of course) to be my maybe only 1911 for mild range use but could be my carry gun that's would be 100 percent reliable out the box that I could protect the lives of my wife and myself if need be with my only addition be night sights and a magwell that may be purchased like that as factory options what would you suggest between the loaded,LW operator or TRP what would you suggest?

Look ,if you are going to stick with Springfield Armory ..........be prepared to do some minor tuning of the pistol as it comes from the factory. Many times the Extractor is set too tight .........and needs adjustment to prevent FTF's. Many people just claim the gun needs a break-in period, but what they are really saying, is the gun needs to be shot a lot to losen up the extractor to its proper tension. That's a waste of ammo in my mind.

Owning a 1911 is not like having other modern day ploymer handguns. It takes a little more knowledge & dedication to keep them functioning 100% .........but that kind of reliability is certainly attainable. For me that is the lure of this gun ....... getting to know its inner most secrets ......and being able to dissect the beast without needing a full blown Gunsmith Shop !!

Any of the handguns you mentioned above are adequate, it must fit your likes & needs --- if you have to ask others opinion on which one to own and shoot - you have missed the "lure" and nature of which I spoke about above.

Good luck with your 1911 !! It will become your most favorite piece of Artwork !!

I have a DW Bobtail and a Springer LW 1911. The DW is just a little bit more money, but a LOT more gun.
